March is #LadderSafetyMonth, and thousands of people have been killed or seriously injured due to falls from ladders. Injuries and deaths caused by ladders are preventable. Please share some of OSHA’s safety tips with your community. ✔️ Read and follow all labels/markings on the ladder. ✔️ Always inspect the ladder prior to using it. If the ladder is damaged, it must be removed from service and tagged until repaired or discarded. ✔️ Use a ladder only on a stable and level surface, unless it has been secured (top or bottom) to prevent displacement. ✔️ Do not move or shift a ladder while a person or equipment is on the ladder. ✔️ Do not place a ladder on boxes, barrels, or other unstable bases to obtain additional height. #workplacesafety #education #community

Preventing Falls from Heights: A Critical Safety Concern Falls from heights remain one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities, especially in industries like construction, maintenance, and industrial jobs. They are also a common hazard in homes, particularly for children and the elderly, during activities like home repairs. Here are the key points to understand and prevent falls from heights: Common Causes: Unsafe or improper use of scaffolding and ladders. Lack of guardrails on elevated platforms. Faulty harnesses or failure to use fall protection equipment. Slippery or unstable surfaces. Prevention Measures: Use Fall Protection Equipment: Harnesses, guardrails, safety nets, and proper fall-arrest systems are essential in any work environment with height risks. Conduct Regular Safety Training: Workers must be trained in safe ladder use, scaffolding setup, and general fall prevention techniques. Carry out Safety Inspections: Regular inspections of ladders, scaffolding, and guardrails can identify and address hazards before they lead to incidents. Consequences of Falls: Injuries: Falls from heights can result in fractures, head injuries, spinal cord damage, and internal injuries. Fatalities: Falls from significant heights can be deadly. Long-term Disabilities: Severe falls may lead to long-term or permanent disabilities, impacting the individual’s quality of life. Let’s work together to make safety a priority and prevent falls from heights. #SafetyFirst #StaySafe #FallPrevention #HeightSafety #WorkplaceSafety #FallProtection #ConstructionSafety #ScaffoldSafety #FallHazards #IndustrialSafety
