🌍 Exploring the Future of Sustainable Architecture (The Line project insight)🌿 Recently, I had the pleasure of connecting with Amy Almeda, a final-year Liberal Arts student at the University of Exeter. Amy is diving into a fascinating dissertation topic that explores the transformative potential of sustainable architecture, focusing on the innovative case of The Line in Saudi Arabia. 👩🎓 Her research examines how advanced architectural projects like The Line can address contemporary environmental and social challenges, offering a revolutionary approach to building a more sustainable future. The question is do we want this? How we can engage with this new project? Amy reached out to me as part of her research process, seeking insights from experts in Nature-Based Solutions through a short conversation. I was impressed by her enthusiasm and dedication to uncovering this topic and working on the driver of positive environmental and societal change. If you’re also working in areas related to sustainable development, architecture, or urban planning, I encourage you to support and share your perspective with talented students like Amy (contact: aa1363@exeter.ac.uk). These bright minds are shaping the future and need our guidance and collaboration to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.🧠 📢 Let’s connect and inspire the next generation of change-makers!📢 #SustainableArchitecture #TheLine #NatureBasedSolutions #FutureCities #StudentResearch #Sustainability #UrbanDevelopment #SaudiArabia #TheLine

Excited to announce that our latest research paper, entitled "From Naseri to Ahvaz: Revisiting Modernity's Impact on an Iranian City During the Qajar Era," has been accepted and indexed in the Journal of Iranian Architecture Studies (JIAS). This paper is a result of my collaboration with Dr. Mojtahedzadeh and Dr. Rostampour. By examining archival documents, maps, and photographs, we delved into the modern urban development of Ahvaz, a traditional city in the southwest of Iran. Our study explores various factors contributing to the emergence and integration of new insights into urban spaces in Iranian cities since the early 20th century. For those interested, the abstract of the paper is accessible via the link below. #Modernism, #Ahwaz, #UrbanDevelopment

the most important items that I got from RAIC (Royal Architectural Institute of Canada) Conference on Architeture, are: Pros, - Experienced architects in Canada are like assets to their Society (I visited ther exhibitions) - Positive relationship between university and industry is considered by both academicians and industry people (I attended in the meetings) Cons, - Making decisions to increase the density of low-density zones, in response to a greater need for housing, can create problems for cities in the future, The same experience in Iran. #RAIC May 2024

The social and physical wounds of the destructive civil war which consumed the small West African country of Liberia and dragged into the early twentieth century, are still present in Liberian cities and villages including Monrovia (the capital and its outskirts). This project is not trying to offer vernacular architecture with a modern look. What it does instead, is to accept and explore the contemporary sub/urban situation in Monrovia as it is, with the intention to derive unique possibilities for the future development of the the cities and countryside through new architectural complexes. Our understanding is that it is necessary to overcome the classical binary opposition of city versus countryside both in urban theory and in architectural design.
