Many companies have counted on Tesla providing charging on their premises. With the Super Charger division downsized, and a focus on improving reliability rather than growing charger locations, strategies need to shift. Property & franchise owners of stores, hotels and restaurants can no longer rely on a strategy dependent on Tesla - they need to take back control and embrace tools that quickly calculate if a charging location is financially viable. At last, an initiative to help van operators, sorely needed to boost EV van sales. It makes complete sense for operators to be able to offset the high infrastructure costs for electricity supply to chargers, by sharing and renting. It also gives other operators a more reliable and cost-effective charging source. The UK has installed a record number of public electric vehicle (EV) chargers this year. Nearly 6,000 new chargers were installed during the first three months of 2024, according to quarterly figures from data company Zapmap published by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom. Motorway chargers increase 51% in 2024 Some 200 additional 150kW+ electric vehicle (EV) chargers have been installed at motorway services in England since the beginning of 2024, according to analysis by Zapmap and the RAC. The news represents a 51% increase over the last eight months and a new record for installation numbers. It means almost half (48% – 55 sites) of the 114 motorway services in England now have six or more of these 150kW+ chargers, with many also providing points up to 350kW. Therefore the UK's 1.17 million EV drivers can now use 595 chargers on the country's motorways.
