Last week, PREC-Professor dr. Marco Giacalone joined the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Just AI as a guest speaker on the importance of improving access to justice through digitization, e-justice, and online dispute resolution (ODR) to build trust among consumers. He highlighted the need to enhance access to information, streamline judicial processes for faster access to courts, and ensure interoperability between national e-justice systems across Europe. ⬇️

Bringing our two success stories together will make us into one of the largest group of competition experts in Brussels, with valuable public and private sector experience, an excellent complementary skill set, as well as wide sectoral and international coverage. Moreover, having access to a large global group of leading experts with diverse experience and practice areas, including arbitration and litigation, and powerful resources globally, will allow us to better serve our clients, particularly those outside Europe. We are looking forward to working with you in this new capacity. We remain committed to a quality debate between lawyers and economists, academics and partitioners, as well as the private and public sector. Recently, U.S. Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Jonathan Kanter spoke about a “crisis of expertise in our #antitrust and competition community,” due to rampant conflicts of interest among academic researchers. Researchers are conflicted when they have an interest (financial, career-related, or ideological) in their findings pointing in a particular direction (e.g. a corporate merger being beneficial). Is AAG Kanter right? Is the problem limited to the antitrust community? What can be done about it? Heritage in War and Peace IV: Spotlight on Panel 5 With the Call for Papers for the next edition of the conference closing in the next couple of weeks, together with Strathclyde Law School and HII - Heritage International Institute we are going to take a closer look at its different panels. Today we are looking at Panel 5, “Nature and Heritage”, which was the main theme of the second edition of the conference. Given the challenges posed for natural heritage by climate change and the advancement of the Anthropocene, issues surrounding its conservation are now more burning than ever. This panel invites scholars to look beyond the traditional approaches to the protection of natural heritage, pondering the unconventional methods at the intersection of law, politics and science.
