I'm excited to share our recent research on autonomous GIS with the development of a "GIS Copilot" that allows users to perform spatial analysis in QGIS using natural language for both vector and raster data. The Copilot was tested with more than 100 spatial analysis tasks spanning various complexity levels. The result shows that the GIS Copilot has strong potential in automating foundational GIS operations, with a high success rate for basic and intermediate tasks, while challenges remain in achieving full autonomy for more complex tasks without explicit guidance. This work represents a promising step toward the development of autonomous GIS, aiming to make spatial analysis more accessible to all. LOL ...... AI has almost .... almost - caught up to me and 3 clicks in Satshot ... for the NDVI assignment ..... possible since 199X. The other acts are interesting and could be integrated.....as well DEM integation is of interest. What about actually automatically getting the DEM from my satellite list .............................:) Can QGIS, without being turned on ...(laptop/desktop) automatically address my 318 AoIs, and when the satellite of choice acquisition is completed, grab my AoI, process the selected analytic, and while doing so send me an email with the latest acquisition image and then, minutes later send me another with the completed effort, and a report ...... NOPE. Satshot does it everyday .... :) Could it also power my tractor or sprayer in John Deere Operations Operations Center since 200X ... ooops NO.
I was working in QGIS this morning and thought about that writing a prompt would be way more effective than trying to find the right tools in all plugins and menus. I will download and start using it immediately!
Very interesting... looking forward to use it. I was wondering if the copilot understand any type of words or just some basic commands
This is amazing ! Need to try this !
That sounds amazing, huge congratulations 👏
Un artículo que hay que leerlo definitivamente
Interesting, looking forward to use it soon and give the feedback.
Excited to see advancements like GIS Copilot making spatial analysis more accessible! A promising step towards autonomous GIS, bridging technology and usability.
太棒了!

2wBeing able to "speak" to QGIS on your analytical needs and getting the package to "toe your line" would be a paradigm shift. Progress down this line would be death bells for proprietary arrogance? Indeed a long shot. Yet, a start has been made. If the amazing progress that ChatGPT and the rest of its kind has made fiddling with intelligence, human or artificial is anything to go by, we ought to be excited about the days ahead. Bring it on :-)
