1% Better Everyday

1% Better Everyday

Life thrives on innovation, talent, and, most importantly, persistence. I'm a big fan of movies, and in the movie, the Founder Michael Keaton's character of Ray Kroc says, 'Nothing in this world can take the place of good old persistence. Talent won't.'

If someone wants to get into the sports & entertainment industry, you understand the value of growth and improvement. But how do you ensure consistent progress in accomplishing your goals? Inspired by the philosophy of entrepreneur and author James Clear, this article explores the transformative concept of getting 1% better every day. Clear states, "If you can get 1 percent better each day for one year, you'll end up 37 times better by the time you're done". (Clear, 2022) This strategy promises to elevate your personal and professional life.

Why does this matter?

It's all about one thing, persistence. Concentrate your journey on achievable daily tasks, making the daunting path to success attainable and sustainable. By embracing the 1% better philosophy, you align yourself with the practices of industry leaders like Clear, setting a foundation for enduring success. It's all about daily habits, and if you concentrate on the daily habits, you will get better. Your goal is to get 1% better every day, learn something, accomplish a small task, and exercise for 30 minutes.

I wish I had this mentality when I was in college & starting off my career. I didn’t get this until I was in my mid-late 20’s.

The Power of Incremental Improvement

"1% better every day" is a principle grounded in the belief that small, daily enhancements can lead to substantial long-term growth. It's about improving continuously at a sustainable and impactful pace. Imagine enhancing your skills, expanding your network, or deepening your industry knowledge bit by bit, day after day. James Clear, among others, has lived this mantra, achieving remarkable success. By adopting this incremental approach, the cumulative effect of your efforts can propel you to the top of the industry.

Personal Time Investment

The path to 1% better isn't just about hard work but smart, focused effort. Dedicate time each day to learning, reflecting, and practicing. Whether it's deep diving into the latest industry trends, seeking mentorship, or honing a specific skill, ensure each day includes an investment in yourself. This dedicated time is non-negotiable and is the foundation for your growth.

Actionable Steps for Daily Improvement

To incorporate this philosophy into your daily routine, start with specific, achievable goals. Break down your long-term aspirations into daily tasks and celebrate small victories as you complete them. Seek feedback, embrace challenges as learning opportunities, and surround yourself with individuals who push you to excel. Remember, consistency is vital. Even when progress feels minimal, trust that these incremental improvements contribute to your larger journey.

The Long-Term Impact

Adopting a mindset of getting 1% better daily might not lead to overnight success, but it ensures steady, sustainable progress. Over time, these small daily improvements compound, leading to significant achievements. This approach keeps you agile, proactive, and continuously ahead of the curve in the sports and entertainment industry, where trends and opportunities constantly evolve.

Final Thoughts & Call to Action

As you end each day, take a moment to reflect on how you've improved. Maybe you've made a new connection, learned a new technique, or gained a deeper understanding of your craft. These daily growth increments are the stepping stones to your success in the sports and entertainment industry. Embrace the journey of getting 1% better every day, and watch as your efforts multiply into a fulfilling and successful career.

Beginning today. Share your journey and progress with others on the same path. Connect, engage, and grow together. The sports and entertainment industry is vast and varied—there's room for all willing to commit to continuous improvement. Let's grow 1% better together.
