10 simple ways to boost your energy

10 simple ways to boost your energy

Do you feel tired most days of the week and you feel that you lack the energy to do the activities you love to do?

You are not alone. Low energy is one of the side of effects of our high-tech lives. Being in a constant state of anxiety, keeping our eyes on digital screens for long hours throughout the day, less active lifestyle, and many more reasons cause fatigue in our minds and our bodies.

The good news is there are simple things you can do to reduce fatigue and boost your energy.

Here are 10 simple ways.

1- Reduce stress

Stress is one of the biggest things that drains our energy and affects our physical and mental health. Our fast-paced lifestyle triggers stress response in our brain frequently and loads tension on our nervous system.

It is important to learn and practice simple strategies to reduce stress and lower its negative side effects. Learn to relax your mind and allow your brain to release stress. That will help increase your energy.

2- Meditate

Meditation is an ancient practice and a scientific process that was proven by modern science to reduce stress and anxiety and improve physical and mental health. The distractions we encounter in our modern life is tiring for our brain and consumes our energy.

Meditation is a wonderful practice that trains the mind to focus and therefore counteracts the negative effects of distraction. Doing so, meditation helps release tension from your mind and your body and boosts your energy level.

Learn meditation from a good teacher and make it part of your daily routine to enjoy its many benefits of meditation, including higher cognitive function, enhanced immune function, better sleep, and more energy.

3- Exercise

Regular exercise is important for having a healthy body. Research shows that exercise helps reduce fatigue, enhance cognitive function and improve your sleep. Physical activity oxygenates your blood and boosts your energy.

Have a regular exercise routine. Or look for opportunities to add physical activities to your days. Take a break during the day and do gentle stretches, take stairs instead of elevator, walk instead of driving if the distance you travel allows it.

4- Slow down

Packing our days with endless tasks is exhausting for our brain and our body. Add to this the constant distractions we face from our digital devices and looking at screens that creates tension to our mind. In our modern world that keeps our minds overstimulated and our brain overactive, it is important to consciously slow down to give a rest to our mind and our body.

5- Limit your screen time

Looking at digital screens for a long time is tiring for our eyes and cause fatigue. And now he coronavirus pandemic made almost all of us to adopt a digital lifestyle. We must be mindful of the downside of too much screen time and try our best to avoid digital screens whenever possible.

6- Stay positive

The content of our mind has a direct effect on our mood and our energy levels. Negative thinking drains our energy and lowers our mood. Having positive thoughts, on the other hand, has a positive effect impact on our body, our brain function and our health. Practice to be mindful of the content of your mind and nurture positive thoughts to elevate your mood and your energy level.

7- Practice gratitude

Gratitude is a wonderful practice that increases your level of happiness, enhances brain function, improves immune system, and boosts your energy. Gratitude is about recognising and appreciating the positive aspects of our life.

Make the habit of creating a grateful mind to train your mind to see and appreciate the positive things in life and it will help produce positive emotions and boost your energy.

8- Stay hydrated

Our body needs water to function well. Dehydration can cause fatigue and affect your brain function and energy levels. Try drinking enough water throughout the day and whenever you feel thirsty. Keep in mind that seniors may not feel thirsty when the body needs water and they need to make sure they drink enough water throughout the day even if they don’t feel thirsty.

9- Get enough sleep

Not enough sleep can negatively impact your health and performance and cause fatigue. Try getting enough sleep every night. To help improve the quality of your sleep, avoid digital screen for at least one hour before bed time and do relaxing activities, such as meditation, listening to light music, reading a good book, or taking a bath.

10- Get sunlight

Having a moderate amount of exposure to sunlight is important for our physical and mental health. Try getting out in the sun for a few minutes every day, or at least open the blinds in the house and let some sun in.

With these simple strategies, you can boost your energy and enhance your mental and physical health.
