10 Ways to Create More Content in Less Time

10 Ways to Create More Content in Less Time

When it comes to creating content, marketers face two main challenges: not enough time and not enough money. Let's face it — it's really hard to spend time writing when you've got so many other priorities competing for your attention. Something's got to give — and often content creation is the victim.

Here are several ideas to streamline your content creation. I'll use blogging as an example, since it's one of the main channels for content marketing, but you can apply these ideas to lots of different areas of content marketing.

  1. Plan ahead. Take the time to plan out several blog posts you'd like to write — even if it's just a list of possible titles. That way, when you find yourself with an extra 15 or 30 minutes to write, you won't have to spend the whole time figuring out what to write about. Some of my best titles come to me while brushing my teeth!
  2. Feature posts from guest authors. Make it a goal to publish at least two guest posts per month.
  3. Create a compilation post, with links to previous blog posts and/or other content on a certain topic.
  4. Look through previously-published blog posts for content that could be updated and re-published.
  5. Share content from other sources. This could include links to outside blogs, online publications, or just about anything.
  6. Publish posts from your corporate Twitter or Facebook page about a given topic.
  7. Write shorter blog posts. It seems obvious, but a shorter post will almost always take less time to write than a longer post.
  8. Started writing and couldn't stop? Break longer posts into a multi-part series.
  9. Feature visual content like photos or video, which require less writing.
  10. Keep your eyes open for breaking stories in your industry, then share the story — along with your take on its impact — in a blog post.

That's all for now! Happy writing ✍️

Setting aside some time to write is key for me. I have a clear head in the mornings, and my writing comes easier (faster).
