2 motors x 3 seats = U8 engine

2 motors x 3 seats = U8 engine

Coupling two 4-cylinder engines an 8-cylinder "U" engine was obtained:

  • one Simca 1.1 litres
  • one Simca 1.3 litres

The 2 original crankshafts were connected by two chains to a third auxiliary shaft.

Because of the oil "chock" super cars became suddenly obsolete and energy saving became a commercial must ("U8" featured 28 litres/100 kilometres)! The project didn't go into production.
