Six Facts No One Tells You About Forwarding An Email

DREAMS DON’T COME TRUE

Forward this mail to a 100 people, and your dreams will come true - no, they don't. They clog your office network. Don't forward generic emails that say to do so - no matter how noble the cause may be!

ADD A NOTE

When forwarding an important business email, be sure to add your note as to why you are forwarding the mail. The receiver of the mail may not understand the context in which you have forwarded the mail.

THAT'S A LOAD

You get this great ppt on improving your communication skills, and you need to share it with your co-workers. Think of a way to share it other than just forwarding it directly. How about sharing it on a common link?

TAKE PERMISSION

Before using material, take permission from the sender of the email. It is unethical to forward the mail to others and mostly construed as being rude. If someone asks you to refrain from forwarding the email, understand that you need to respect their confidentiality and abide by.

NO CONTROVERSY

As much as you are passionate about world issues, do not forward mails on political, controversial and racial content.

IT'S JUST NOT YOUR JOB

So there is a great article on the company and you find it on the internet. As much as the PR person in you nudges you to send it, refrain from doing so. You could bring it to the notice of the person/team responsible for internal communications.
