Why Your Employee is Your Best Social Media Ambassador!
You have invested quite a few $$$ in your digital strategy, have the best agency in the industry tracking your online presence and reputation, but you still think there is a critical piece missing from all of this, that stops you from attaining a digital nirvana (well, almost!)
Look within, as the great masters would say. And this time, it is your employee.
The employee who is constantly connected to his friends and family through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, the list is endless...and is most definitely your strongest yet neglected ambassador.
Let’s look at an example:
Company A is a leading manufacturer of mobile phones. They have around 3000 employees in their India office. Apart from their external marketing, they did something really exciting.
They designed a content strategy for their employees which could be translated and reused by their people on social media channels. Therefore, apart from the external social conversations and communication that transpired through their other initiatives and efforts, they also got an added mileage on their product by making their employees the brand ambassadors.
So what should an employee digital content strategy have in it?
- Reflect the “emotion” with which your employee sees your brand – “I love working for the coolest product company in the world, and here is why!”
- Personalize the content to say, “Here’s the coolest product my company brought out.”
- Make them feel proud of being a part, “I was on the testing team for this product…and you can buy it here.”
- Have a strategic goal and an operational policy that aligns to the goal which the employee could adhere to.
- Do’s and Don’ts – this could tell your employee where to draw the line on social conversations.
- “Like our product, connect back to xyz@abc.com” – it’s really that simple to make your support team hooked to what your customer really feels about you.
- Integrate, socialize and converse – you have a great tag running on Twitter, ask your employees to tweet, feed them with content “snippets” and build your audience and conversations organically.
Not one employee would want to shy away from being his company’s brand ambassador - they are your best (and yes, cheapest!) form of marketing online.
What are you waiting for - go conquer the world by having an integrated digital strategy, and this time, don't forget your employee!
