What Does the Future of Storytelling Look Like?

What Does the Future of Storytelling Look Like?

If you were asked what was the most important development in storytelling over the past year or so, what would be your answer?

Perhaps you'd mention the growth and evolution of Vine and Instagram as a way of not only complementing stories, but at times telling a full story in an image or 6- or 15-second video; or maybe you'd point to the resurgence of podcasts and what this means for longform audio content; or you could just point out the overall importance for media companies to have an established mobile strategy.

Whatever you choose, you'd be right. Each development has helped improve storytelling as those in media, entertainment, data and many more industries determine how to best share their stories and their messaging.

I truly believe we are in a golden era for storytelling. Never in the history of our planet have we had so many platforms for sharing our stories and receiving feedback so seamlessly and in real time. And the future will only bring more intriguing and innovative ways to create, distribute and react.

This is why I am so excited for Mashable's Media Summit, which returns to New York City on Dec. 5. Our Media Summit will be a day-long event that will focus on the future of storytelling -- from new formats of creativity to mobile strategies to an increased reliance on data science.

This year's Media Summit will include the voices of many brilliant storytellers, including Orange Is The New Black author Piper Kerman, Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles, journalist Jill Abramson and many, many more.

If you're interested in attending Mashable's Media Summit, tickets are on sale now! But if you can't make it to NYC, follow along with the #MediaSummit hashtag and join in the global conversation as we figure out what's next.

I hope to see many of you Dec. 5 and to talk more about the future of storytelling!

This is a trend direction running parallel with heroes and fairytale concepts in the marketplace, do you agree?

I honestly believe that behind the success of any new product on storytelling is the need for uncensored communications. The minute marketing uses a product only for revenue by generating mass output and failing to satisfy the need for true facts and originality, a new product will come out to correct this mislead.
