2018 Favorite Books
A round-up of my favorite books read this past year:
- Understanding Our Country - From the northern border to the southern border, and everything in between, the more I learn about our country, the more I realize how little I know it.
- Understanding Our World - Yep, I admittedly am an ignorant American. I started the year not knowing much about what happens between our borders, and even less about what happens outside of them. These are a few titles that helped me become a bit more worldly this year
- Tales from Off the Grid - For someone who spends an exorbitant amount of time in my suburban home with my nose in a screen, I’m strangely drawn to lives lived unconventionally off the grid. Get (figuratively) lost with these stories of people who (literally) got lost.
- Worth the Fuss - I try to read a few award-winning titles every year. Don’t be scared off by all the fuss – these books are totally worth it. (And you have my permission to read them sprawled on your couch wearing your very-unfussy-and-very-unfancy-never-wear-in-public-sweats).
- Middle Grades. High Marks. - It’s been a few years since my own tween days (thank god). But I am currently in the thick of parenting two tweens (god bless me). Thus, I get exposed to all things Fortnite and Flossing (make it stop). But I also get exposed to some really great Middle Grades literature (you won’t want to put these down).

How does this worker-bee/soccer-mom/rickety-runner find time to read 50 books a year? This is my secret.
Have you read Becoming by Michelle Obama, yet? If not, add it to your list.
