2023 January-March China’s tea import and export in brief
Tea exports
According to customs statistics, from January to March 2023, China’s tea exports of 85,400 tons, the amount of $423 million, the average price of $4.95 / kg, down 6.98%, 16.13% and 10% respectively.
Green tea (72,600 tons), black tea (6,300 tons), oolong tea (4,500 tons), Pu’er tea (500 tons) exports are declining, black tea decreased by the largest rate of 12.32%; black tea exports increased by 102.1%.
Tea export markets in the top 10 are Morocco, Ghana, Uzbekistan, Mauritania, Algeria, Senegal, Russia, Benin, Mali and Japan. Exports to Morocco 12,500 tons, the largest decline of 35.76%; exports to Benin 3575 tons, the largest increase of 185.14%.
Tea import
According to customs statistics, from January to March 2023, China imported 6469 tons of tea, amounting to $23.66 million, with an average price of $3.66/kg, down 22.02%, 29.93% and 10.07% year-on-year, respectively.
The import of black tea (5655 tons), green tea (470 tons), oolong tea (310 tons) and maté tea (21.9 tons) is declining to varying degrees, oolong tea decreased by the largest 43.99%; black tea (1.24 tons) and Pu’er tea (1.07 tons) imports are growing, up 2325.49% and 178.8% respectively.
The top 5 tea import market are Sri Lanka (2020 tons), Indonesia (865 tons), India (842 tons), Burundi (764 tons) and Malawi (297 tons), imports from India decreased by the largest rate of 43.58%, imports from Burundi increased by the largest 128.92%.
