2024 Tested Me — Here’s How I’m Resetting for Success
Peace Friends,
After nearly nine years in business, I’ll admit: I’m tired. 2024 tested my mental agility in ways I never imagined, and at times, I’ve felt like giving up.
I recently listened to the Therapy for Black Girls Podcast that gave me perspective. The episode discusses the complexities of entrepreneurship, especially for Black business owners. For many of us, our drive to start businesses comes not only from passion but also from necessity or escape —escaping personal, racial, and systemic trauma. Business is already hard enough, and when you add the constant underbelly of racism, sexism, and other “-isms,” it can feel impossible to release those pressures.
If this resonates, I implore you to rest. Give yourself grace. You’re carrying a lot, and it’s okay to pause. As I step into year three of my mandatory holiday recess where I take zero meetings and spend the final weeks of the year planning for what’s next, I’m reminded of how vital this time is to my success.
Here’s the episode I found so grounding—maybe it’ll help you, too: Session 387: Chasing the Bag Without Losing Your Mind.
