#29 - Answering Your Career Questions

The new Jobseeking is Hard is out now!

This week is dedicated to answering subscriber questions!

I'm answering:

  1. What to do if you don’t want to use anyone at your current employer as a reference?
  2. How long should you stay at a job you don't like?
  3. When jobs are listed as "remote," are they *truly* remote? And how can you tell?
  4. If you haven't been at your current job very long, how can you still make it impactful on your resume?
  5. How do you frame your resume as an individual contributor when your previous roles were all in management/ leadership?

And don't forget to send in the stupidest questions you've been asked in interviews and your jobseeking horror stories to share in future issues! Email the newsletter at contact@jobseekingishard.com

Check it out at www.jobseekingishard.com

PS! I have a tiny ask- If you're enjoying the newsletter, let people know! Forward it, tweet it, post it, whatever.....the bigger the discussion, the better! The idea is to help as many people as possible. Sharing is caring, and you never know who could use the advice!

Just wanted to say as an unfortunate frequent job seeker, the information and tips you’ve been providing have been more useful than most of the stale, recycled insight I’ve seen from most “industry insiders” on here since joining this god forsaken platform almost 20 yrs ago.

Great, straight talk advice as always. Regarding remote jobs with locations, sometimes job boards don't allow "Remote" (or even a country) as the location - even LI Jobs didn't until early 2022! Still looks like it's the case for many company job boards, so keep in mind if applying directly. Unfortunately, using 'remote' as a keyword search + fine print reading seems to be the only way.
