3 Lessons Learned from 2023

3 Lessons Learned from 2023

As we look forward to the New Year, I encourage everyone to take time to reflect on how far our careers and businesses have come in the last year. We’ve seen brands reinvent themselves as they adapted to constantly changing market conditions, and we’ve seen leaders step up to create an open-minded workforce that embraces different journeys and ideas, and yet is still connected by a cause greater than any one individual. With all these lessons learned over the past year, there is no doubt you can find ways to apply them in your professional life for success.

In this blog, I am going to share 3 powerful lessons that I’ve learned from my experiences this year with actionable tips for anyone looking to take their career or business further into 2024!

#1 - Understanding the Power of Technology

In today's world, understanding the power of technology is crucial to any business looking to stay ahead of the competition. This year, we saw artificial intelligence (AI) practically explode. I strongly believe in the importance of taking full advantage of these tools to maximize efficiency. Incorporating various technologies into your business systems can level up performance and push productivity to new heights. Stay in the know of emerging technologies, and you can ensure that your company is operating with top-tier resources and positioning itself for future success.

TIP: While there are a plethora of technology options available, don’t get lost in the options! Make sure you have a direct application for systems you and your team learn. Nothing is worse than wasted time!

#2 - Investing in Your Team

Investing in your team members is a crucial step toward ensuring the growth and success of your company. It's important to focus on the professional and personal growth of your employees to ensure they feel valued and supported. This investment can come in many forms, from mentorships and training programs to implementing initiatives that support mental health and work-life balance. When you invest in your team, you not only support their personal growth but also contribute to the growth of the company as a whole. Happier and more fulfilled employees are more productive and motivated, which translates into a more successful business. By prioritizing the development of your team, you invest in the future of your business.

#3 - Take Care of Your Mental and Physical Health

As an event planner, my job involves handling all sorts of requests, demands, and deadlines - oh, and everything wants it NOW!

Such a high-pressure job can easily take a serious toll on your health if you don't take care of yourself. It's important to prioritize your mental and physical health, especially during busy periods. Investing time in self-care practices like exercise, meditation, or simply taking some time off work can do wonders for your well-being. Additionally, don't hesitate to seek professional help if you're struggling to cope with the demands of your job. Remember, taking care of yourself isn't selfish— it's essential for being able to perform your best as an event planner.
