3 Practical Ways to Uplift Others
‘The most meaningful way to succeed is to help others succeed.’ That’s one powerful quote by Adam Grant. When you realise that where you are now is a journey to someone else, you realise how much power you have to change their life. If you’re thriving in your career or business, here are three ways you can help others thrive too.
1. Be a mentor
Remember, your experiences can be a guide or handbook for others. Give them a platform to learn from your journey. Mentoring is like holding a torch for others in the dark, so they don’t tumble or miss their way.
2. Be a sponsor
You can leverage your position to open doors for others—by amplifying their qualifications and giving them opportunities or recommendations. Bring up their names in those big conversations and you just might change a life.
3. Leverage your network
Connect one person to another who has walked the path they seek and can move them forward. Sometimes you may not have all the answers or be able to help as much as you wish. That’s where you look into your network and match the person who seeks help to someone who can help them.
Bonus point: Give a listening ear
Sometimes, all a person needs is to feel heard and understood. Support them, cheer them on, and show sympathy. However, make sure you’re also honest with them, even if it may hurt, so that they can grow.
I wish the bonus point of giving a listening ear be priotized more.
