3-step framework to develop a Learning Routine

3-step framework to develop a Learning Routine

Success is often attributed to a reading habit!

Some big names in different industries, such as Bill Gates, Waren Buffet, etc., read crazily daily.

Yes, learning or reading routine is personal. It depends on the people, their attitude, work, industry, interest, and many other factors.

But still, you can follow some steps/tips to develop an effective learning routine. This edition discusses a 3-step framework to establish an effective learning routine.

3-Step Framework

Step 1 – Create a learning/reading list

You must find out what you want to learn; otherwise, you will start wondering everywhere. It would be like scrolling social media unnecessarily.

So, you'll need to understand yourself and discover all areas you want to see yourself as an expert. You can also set reading goals as successful people do. Did you know Elon Musk used to read two books every day?

I started reading marketing, psychology and copywriting when I realised this learning is essential for sustaining any business.

Step 2 – Create a schedule that works for you.

You'll need to find out your learning schedule. I know we are all busy to finish many works in a day. Still, you can extract 15 minutes from your 24 hours for reading.

You don't need to put extra effort into extracting time. You can use accessible resources like mobile apps, youtube channels, and web pages which offer book summaries. You can also watch videos and listen to the audio for learning.

It is not necessary to read only books, you must read various resources like books, articles, and journals. Etc. It is good to bring variation in reading places, time, and resources to keep your schedule productive.

"Headway" is one of my favourite reading apps on which I read summaries.

Step 3 – Assess your learning through self-assessment

A human brain forgets things if someone does not share new learning with others after 24 hours. The best way to avoid this problem is to do a self-assessment test of your learnings.

For self-assessment, you can do any of these activities

  • Share learning with others; leverage social media platforms
  • Speak and record it, and don't forget to watch it
  • You can take help from your friend and community; ask them to listen to your learning or ask questions.

Teaching, writing, and speaking is my profession. And I follow all these 3 points for self-assessment.

By following these 3-step framework learning routine formulas, you can learn anything and remember for a long.

Bonus tips

  • Good sleep and keep your brain clear
  • Take notes and revise them in some interval
  • Short breaks if you learn for long hours
  • Surround yourself with passionate people
