3 Stress Management Hacks

3 Stress Management Hacks

In today's society, stress is quickly becoming the most serious health issue.

Educational, relational, financial, professional, and family demands — there's so much to do and so little time to accomplish it all! While you are busy meeting these demands, stress, like a ghost, invisibly enters your body and begins to drain your energy and weaken your spirits, making you hollow from within. You don't even realize that the stress is slowly and silently killing you.

Stress is a silent killer; kill it, before it kills you.

There are three fast strategies to relieve tension and pressure:

1. Digital Detox-This weekend, switch off your mobile, take a leave from your email accounts, give a good buy kiss to your laptop, and go on a long drive with your favourite music on, take a book, invite a family or friend you have been longing to meet over lunch or dinner or plan an outing together, ask your family to pack their bags for an unplanned picnic, and talk to as many people as you can; but remember, no phone calls, no WhatsApp chats... only face-to-face gup-shup!

How are you feeling?

Isn't it just the very thought of it that makes you feel lighter?

2. Mental detox: Set aside time each day to disconnect from the stresses of daily life and relax for at least one hour. Simply block out the rest of the world and do something to pamper yourself. Indulge in doing something like taking a relaxing bath with music and candles (and perhaps a glass of wine). These are all excellent methods to relax and improve your mental health.

If you aren’t a people person and doing the activities suggested in point 1 above doesn’t excite you, choose to go to a meditation or silence camp, lie in the pool and soak yourself in the morning, pick up your camera, and visit a nature park, a solo trip to a bird sanctuary or a riverside, or grab your hat and fishing hook and enjoy the day fishing, pick up the mic and go Karaoke, and if nothing excites you, just pull up your linen and have a lazy day; pick up your diary and pen, set on a reverse journey and go reflect, jotting down every thought in your journal; if you don’t want anything like this, just pick up your long forgotten brushes or guitar... and let your fingers create all the magic.

3. Physical Detox – While being super busy with work (at times without business), while sitting on your chair the whole day, in love with your laptop and mobile, you keep abusing your body, knowingly or unknowingly. You keep pouring cups of tea, coffee, or coal, puffs of cigarettes, or fast food soaked in oil and packed with calories, and forget the most vital thing, i.e., water.

Do some favours to your body. “Hop a little, bend a little, stretch a little...” Take an adventure trip; go swimming; go for a long walk; have a head and full body massage; take a steam or sauna bath; or relax while doing 'Shir-o-dhara’. Go fasting for a day; eat only raw fruits and veggies, and juices or lemonade. Drink plenty of water to rejuvenate your skin and body.

What is the most important thing for us to enjoy and make the best out of our lives?

Our bodies

And what is ignored the most?

Again, it’s our body.

Today onwards, promise me you will take some time off from your busy schedule for yourself and go for a digital, mental, and physical detox.
