3 ways to get the headspace you crave
When was the last time you really thought about how you spent your day?
I ask this because so many people tell me that they're too busy, and that they don't have any headspace to think, that somewhere along the way they've lost themselves just getting the job done.
And I get it.
It can definitely be a case of 'what got me here isn't going to get me there'
Or even 'What got me here, just isn't how I want to work any more'
But by the same token it can be hard to get rid of old habits and behaviours which cause you to spend your days caught up in the weeds. Fielding e-mails; going to meetings; managing interruptions.
All whilst craving the headspace to think properly away from the noise, and also the heart space to re-connect, remember who you are and do the things that bring you joy.
And if we're not careful the 'space' becomes the luxury. The Holy Grail. The nice to do that you'll squeeze in, whenever you have time.
But...that time never comes.
Instead we just move into the next day. Same habits. Same behaviours. Same result.
But what if what we needed to be our best version of ourselves was prioritised along with all the other things we needed to do?
What if the very thing that would make us more productive and effective was actually giving our brain some time off during the day?

If this is where you are I've put together a starter for ten for you to try out this week.
You know as well as I do, that unless you book the time into your diary it just isn't going to happen. So, prioritise the space that you need. Whether that's a meeting with yourself everyday to do some thinking, or getting up earlier to get centred before the day kicks in, it's your choice. But plan it in.
2. Make it simple
Creating space doesn't have to be complicated or hard. In fact the simpler the better so you don't have to worry about it. So, go for a walk, take time to make the perfect cup of coffee; spend longer in the shower; journal; meditate; go for a drive and allow your mind to wander.
3. Audit your day
Rather than just being swept along with the tide spend a couple of hours really looking at how you spend your time. When do you have your most energy? When are you most effective? What takes up the most of your time? What fixes or changes can you put in place to make things better.
Give these a go and I'd love to know what worked for you.
