30-ish for 30 Launch

30-ish for 30 Launch

Earlier this year, I crossed a threshold I once found unimaginable -- I began the 30th year of my professional career. Through these first 30 years I have been shaped and molded by the experiences I have gained, the people with whom I’ve interacted, the successes I’ve been lucky enough to achieve, and the failures that have taught me more than any successful venture ever could.

Thirty years is a long time. When I say it, it makes me feel old and yet it also brings forth feelings of nostalgia and appreciation. I’ve been blessed to work alongside some of the best minds in my chosen industry and I have learned a great deal. As I recently reflected upon these experiences, I felt moved to share with others what has been shared with me. It is with that goal in mind, that I will be serving up my own ESPN-inspired 30-ish for 30 over the coming months – 30 or so lessons learned throughout my 30 years of reporting for duty. I’ll be posting these lessons periodically over the next few months as I close out my 30th professional trip around the sun.

I hope that some of the lessons I share within this blog series stirs within someone a similar experience and causes them to share it with someone else. For one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in the last 30 years is – we are shaped equally by our own personal experiences, witnessing the experiences of others, and pouring all of those experiences into a giant vat of personal development. By keeping your eyes open, ears to the rail, and feet on the ground you’ll be amazed at what you can learn from others.

I look forward to sharing these experiences and lessons learned with you. More importantly, I thank all of the unique individuals that I have had the pleasure to call colleagues, mentors, and friends over the years. For better or worse, y’all have shaped me.

Thank you.

This is a great idea! I look forward to reading these and I hope there's a "y'all" in each one!

Can’t I just “binge-read” the whole series now, like a great Netflix show?
