5 Characteristics of Exceptional Women Entrepreneurs

Did you know that there are 252 million women entrepreneurs worldwide, out of which 153 million women have a well-established business? If these figures look fascinating, there are many intriguing reasons to know what has made women reimagine their roles beyond their conventional duties at home.

There is almost everything that women can do and with great success, be it as a patisserie chef, a CEO, or in a political position. Are ambitious women driven by their past experiences or exceptional talent? Here are some common, interesting characteristics to look into, bringing female entrepreneurs and leaders on the rise.

Compassion

Whether women at home or work, women are not shy to show the epitome of compassion, which, in turn, contributes to their success and growth in any sphere of life. New Zealand Prime Minister showed compassion for the public by protecting them from life-threatening COVID-19 and going against the herd immunity idea. With a proactive approach to combat the pandemic lockdown, New Zealand is one of the first countries with zero covid cases when the virus had hit the world at its peak.

Optimism

For years, women's potential has been undermined and perhaps given rise to feminism. Despite daunting challenges, women have achieved breakthroughs in areas including, aviation, astronomy, and engineering, to mention a few. Women are positive, hopeful, and firmly believe they could bring that change in the world to the best of their ability. Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani female educationist and Nobel Prize Laureate, was a victim of attempted murder and since then stood up for the right of education, particularly for young girls. Her hope for the future despite the life-threatening situations are a testimony of the power of positivity and courage.

Growth mindset

Despite the unequal representation in the corporate culture, women are equally ambitious as men. These growth-oriented goals for women are more focused on overcoming personal limitations and being their competition. Motherhood, financial constraints, and societal norms have become an impetus rather than a challenge for women to climb the success ladder. Whether in conservative societies where educated women are a threat or progressive nations with cut-throat competition in all professional areas, women are not afraid to dream big and make it happen.

Gratitude

64% of women worldwide feel they have much in life to be thankful for hence expressing gratitude regularly. Oprah Winfrey once revealed, “The more thankful I became, the more my bounty increased. That is because for sure what you focus on expands.” This is not only the secret sauce of successful entrepreneurs but a habit that female leaders extend to apply at their workplace. Appreciating colleagues, celebrating the team, sending thank you emails to clients or partners, and expressing gratitude in many ways make women feel positive and joyful about their work.

Determination

Consistency is the key to success, and women have proven this time and again. Be it fighting injustice or meeting deadlines at work, staying focused on every goal is imperative for women not for personal success but also to achieve the impossible. Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors, has shown loyalty to the company for 34 years and is known for being graceful despite facing daunting challenges at the workplace. Whether leaders, entrepreneurs, or beginners, determined women are unstoppable and remain focused on their goals in the long run.

An article on the evolution of women leadership reveals that 37 companies in the Fortune 500 list feature female CEOs and19 countries and are led by women. Although this representation does not equate or exceed the male dominance, it is imperative to focus on the impact created by these women who are leading the world and making a positive difference in every area of their representation.
