HOW DEVELOPING A SENSE OF GRATITUDE CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Developing a sense of gratitude can change your life. It inspires, transforms and energizes you; studies have shown that those who practice gratitude consistently have healthier relationships, higher energy levels and are better equip at dealing with adversity and challenges.
2020 has challenged our strength to endure, act bravely amid challenges, and learn how to love ourselves. Perhaps, it was the year that made us realize how much our dear ones matter, how to be more kind to strangers and think compassionately. As the New Year has set it, we all have something to reflect on. Starting with our workplaces, where we spend most of our time every day, are we thankful enough for the little things that make our lives worth living?
Here is how putting gratitude into action every day has given me a new perspective on life and helped me tackle situations with greater wisdom.
Journaling my hustle diary
There is always a reason to be grateful for, and for me, it is three. Instilling the daily practice of writing down three things I am thankful for every day makes me feel accomplished despite the challenges. Be it eating homemade food, a stranger smiling at me, or reaching for a meeting on time, every little good thing counts. Practicing gratitude every day helps us to deal with stressful events and trauma. Maintaining a gratitude journal has also helped over 30% of people to overcome depression. My hustle diary is a medium to reflect on what makes me grateful and elevates me instantly.
Running in nature
With so much happening around, we all need that safe space to vent out healthily. Scientifically, there are several benefits of running in nature, including absorbing vitamin D, reducing diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Being a part of the green environment makes me feel humbled and appreciate the most priceless things of life, including the peaceful and safe space where I live. Watching the people pass by also gives me a new understanding of their daily lifestyle, which is integral in my position as a creative Marketing Director for MeTL.
Reflecting on life through prayers
In this fast-paced life, it is essential to feel modest and be truthful, no matter how amazing and busy our life looks from the outside. Showing gratitude to God and the Universe attracts positive energy into my life and makes me complain less. I would agree no more with Elizabeth Gilbert, who says, “There is a crack in everyone, and that is how the light gets in.” The good fortune of praying five times a day gives me plenty of chances to reflect on my actions and act with consciousness.
Staying in a beautiful country
How often do we feel grateful for something that may feel so trivial? Every morning as I watch the sunrise and birds chirp, I smile with appreciation for living in a peaceful country. The privilege of walking by the seaside and spending time by the calming ocean renders a small soothing experience. Working with humble people and dedicated to the dream of touching lives every day through our brand motto gives me the energy to strive despite challenges. The freedom to practice what I love without being judged or feeling fearful makes me feel more empowered and independent.
Grateful for the challenges for shaping me into my best version
Sleeping less and working hard on my ambitious projects; becoming an author, launching the FD movement to empower people, revamping brands at MeTL, becoming an international speaker at Forbes and TEDx. These glorious achievements are the outcome of people and situations that challenged my potential, and after experiencing this painful journey, I chose to shine without complaining. If you feel you are in pain because of others, change your attitude into appreciation towards others for making you capable of becoming a better version of yourself.
This year, let us begin with a feeling of appreciation from within. For what you are and how you feel inside is what you will be able to reflect into the environment, whether in personal relationships or business success.
