5 Ways to Level Up Your Leadership in 2025

As we roll into the new year we have a choice.
We can either choose to stay the same, or choose to get better.
Becoming a great leader is a long game made up of small decisions.
One of those being the decision to never settle for how far we’ve come, but to always strive for more.
I would assume that if you’re reading this, then you’ve already made that decision, but to serve as a reminder, let’s look at 5 ways you can ensure you’re moving in a positive direction with your leadership as we step into the new year:
1. Develop a Strong Work Ethic
It’s easy to justify your effort when you are meeting expectations. But as leaders, our responsibility is not only to meet expectations, but to exceed them. Where can you give be giving more of you?
2. Improve Problem-Solving Skills
In leadership, there is no shortage of future problems. But, instead of waiting for more to arise to practice your problem-solving abilities, ask yourself - what problems already exist that you have yet to provide a solution for?

3. Enhance Emotional Intelligence
Your title and experience provide confidence for you in your action, but are irrelevant to anyone until you’ve developed trusting relationships. Unfortunately, no one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care. Have a meeting with the mirror to honestly assess who you are as a leader. Where can you be better relationally?
4. Embrace Adaptability
There is only one constant in leadership and that is CHANGE. You must be willing to adapt, but also firm in controlling what you can control. Remember, your vision doesn’t change but how you get there may have to.
5. Commit to Continuous Learning
I believe that when we stop learning, we stop leading. How can we expect those we lead to grow and progress if we aren’t in constant pursuit of growth in our own lives? Make a commitment to yourself to never stop improving!
