Spotlight on the Child and Family Hubs Framework: Setting a New Benchmark in Integrated Services

On 3 December, the Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership (TQKP), in collaboration with ARACY and the National Child and Family Hubs Network, unveiled the Child and Family Hubs Framework during a webinar that drew nearly 400 attendees from across Australia. This incredible turnout reflects the growing interest in innovative, integrated service models supporting children aged 0-12 and their families.

Developed as part of a project funded by The Bryan Foundation, the Framework is informed by robust evidence, practice wisdom, and consultations with over 160 stakeholders, including members of the Network’s Steering Committee. It offers a blueprint for designing and delivering best-practice hubs in Queensland and potentially across Australia.

What’s next? The Framework will serve as a foundation for a national version to be trialled and tested as part of the Network’s Strategic Plan (2024–2029). An accompanying evaluation framework is also in the works, ensuring continuous improvement.

Stay tuned as this critical initiative shapes the future of child and family services in Australia!

A Better Tomorrow: 10 Ways to Ease the Cost of Living for Young Australians

Poverty is one of the strongest predictors of poor health, educational, and social outcomes, perpetuating intergenerational disadvantage. In Australia, 1 in 6 children lives in poverty, impacting their wellbeing, future aspirations, and opportunities to thrive.

The cost of inaction is staggering, with Australians paying $15 billion annually for services that could have been avoided through early intervention. Yet, investing in children and young people today delivers a ‘triple dividend’, improving their health and wellbeing now, into adulthood, and for future generations.

ARACY has identified key reforms needed to ease the cost-of-living crisis for children and young people. By prioritising areas like housing affordability, food security, and mental health, we can build a brighter future for all young Australians.

Discover the Top 10 Reforms and learn how we can make a difference by visiting our website. Together, we can create a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

The Whole Brain Child

12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind, Survive Everyday Parenting Struggles, and Help Your Family Thrive.

The Whole-Brain Child by Dr. Daniel J. Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson is a New York Times bestseller that offers 12 neuroscience-based strategies to support children's emotional and intellectual development.

The book explains how the brain’s “upstairs” decision-making and emotional regulation areas are underdeveloped in children, leading to challenges like tantrums or emotional outbursts. It provides practical techniques, such as "Name It to Tame It" (using storytelling to calm emotions) and "Engage, Don’t Enrage" (encouraging thoughtful responses instead of emotional reactions).

With clear explanations, relatable scenarios, and age-appropriate advice, the book helps parents turn daily struggles into opportunities for growth, fostering calmer, happier children who are better equipped to lead connected and balanced lives.
