#89 How to Get Coaching Clients on LinkedIn: A Comprehensive Guide

As a coach, finding clients is crucial to your business success. Today, I'm excited to share how you can leverage LinkedIn to attract and secure coaching clients. Having used LinkedIn for the past five years across various niches - from executive coaching to career coaching and now business coaching - I can confidently say that it works brilliantly for all coaching specialties.

LinkedIn stands out as one of the most genuine, authentic, and user-friendly platforms for coaches. Unlike other social media, LinkedIn is specifically designed for networking, making it incredibly easy to find your ideal clients. Whether your coaching niche is leadership, career, wellness, or business, the professionals who need your help are on LinkedIn and ready to engage - if you know how to find them.

Optimising Your LinkedIn Profile

To get coaching clients on LinkedIn, start by optimising your profile. Here are the key areas to focus on:

Headline:

This is the most important part of your profile. Instead of simply stating "Leadership Coach" or "Career Coach", be specific about who you help and how. For example, "I help female leaders grow their revenue" or "I help fashion professionals change careers".

Profile Photo:

A professional headshot makes a significant difference. If you're just starting, even a mini branding shoot can elevate your profile tremendously.

About Section:

Don't treat this like a CV. Instead, speak directly to your ideal client. For instance, "Are you a female leader struggling with imposter syndrome? Feeling overwhelmed by difficult conversations?" Make your potential clients feel seen, heard, and understood.

Experience and Services:

Highlight your coaching experience, programmes, and success stories. Include previous jobs to provide talking points and show your background.

Call to Action:

Use the link under your headline wisely. It could be a discovery call link or a lead magnet to attract ideal clients to your email list.

Building Authority Through Content

Creating valuable content is key to building authority and attracting coaching clients on LinkedIn. Here are some tips:

1. Consistency is Key

Aim for 5 posts per week, but 2-3 times is still beneficial. Regular posting reminds people you exist and helps with the LinkedIn algorithm.

2. Content Ideas

  • Stories from coaching sessions (without breaching confidentiality)
  • Industry trends
  • Personal mindset shifts
  • Polls
  • Video content
  • Carousels (scrollable posts)

3. Personal Stories

Share how you overcame challenges your clients are facing. People love to see the transformation and get inspiration.

4. Balance Your Content

Mix educational posts, stories, polls, and belief-shifting content. Focus on bite-sized tips and insights that your audience can use immediately.

5. Client Wins

Share testimonials or case studies to showcase your results and help potential clients see themselves in your success stories.

Engagement Strategies

To get coaching clients on LinkedIn, engagement is crucial. Here's how to do it effectively:

Comment Thoughtfully: Don't just say "Great post!" Add value by expanding on the topic or sharing your perspective.

Build Genuine Relationships: Engage in real conversations. LinkedIn excels at fostering authentic interactions and learning opportunities.

Direct Messages: Use DMs to build relationships, but keep it genuine. A simple "Thank you for supporting my post" can start a conversation without being pushy.

Reciprocate: Engage with others' content, and they're more likely to engage with yours. You reap what you sow on LinkedIn.

The Lighthouse Approach

Think of your LinkedIn presence as a lighthouse. Shine your light consistently, and the right people will be attracted to you. Remember, not everyone will be ready to buy immediately. Some may follow your content for months before deciding to work with you.

Here's a quick breakdown of the lighthouse approach:

Conclusion

LinkedIn is a powerful platform for coaches looking to attract clients. By optimising your profile, creating valuable content, engaging authentically, and adopting the lighthouse approach, you can build a strong presence that draws your ideal clients to you.

Remember, it's not about being salesy or pushy. It's about genuinely helping and connecting with people. As you consistently shine your light on LinkedIn, you'll find that the right clients will naturally gravitate towards you when the time is right for them.

So, start implementing these strategies today and watch your coaching business grow through the power of LinkedIn!
