The Advantages of Printing Millimeter Wave Antennas with Additive Manufacturing Electronics (AME) Technology

Nano Dimension specializes in the printing of miniaturized uniquely shaped antennas which fit to short wavelength and features various advantages over traditionally manufactured antennas. These include for example Tunable printed antenna, 3D Omni antenna and Phase array antenna. Talk to an expert Contact Nano Dimension

Tunable Antenna

AME technology presents significant benefits in the production of such antennas.

  • It quickly adjusts to the required size of the pads and their distances between the layers, hence reducing the proof of concept (PoC) production time.
  • Changing the size of pads and their distance between the layers, affects the direction and intensity in which the beam is projected.
  • Varied PoCs can be printed on the same batch, to afford an accelerated optimization process.

Omni Antenna

AME technology enables the printing of these type of antenna as one unit. This feature is significant as, typically these antennas are assembled from multiple parts prepared by various technologies.

Phase Array Antenna

Printing on the 3rd axis allows adding three-dimensional miniaturized components such as multi coils, which are connected to miniature pads. Each pad unit behaves as transmitter/receiver unit and together they build the phase array structure.

AME technology also enables to create a fast proof of concept, so the turnaround from design completion to test could be shorten from weeks to only a few days. This affects cost as well as time to market.
