Age UK Enfield (AUKE) is the key provider of advice, dementia care and support, day care, information and advice, fitness and frailty support services in the diverse North London borough. Their mission is to improve the lives of older people in Enfield by ensuring they are valued, active, connected and able to live the life they choose.

AUKE has been serving the people of Enfield since 1997. The Charity is part of the national Age UK Charity and its network of local Age UKs.

About the role

They are seeking an experienced, driven, and strategic CEO to lead the 30 staff and 60 volunteers at AUKE with great passion and energy. The period ahead is an exciting one. significant project to bring their services under one roof is in its early stages and this would provide an opportunity for them to increase our offerings with a new bespoke facility. They are seeking a new CEO who will be energised by this work and can guide all stakeholders through their strategic plan.

Requirements/Person Specification

  • Proven track record of leadership and management across a range of responsibilities as CEO or similar senior level – ideally gained in a Charity or relevant sector
  • Financial acumen – experience of financial management and control, including budget planning, oversight and cost control
  • Experience of strategic planning and implementing organisational change
  • Track record in driving and supporting fundraising growth, developing networks and working with funding partners
  • Demonstration of influencing and developing relationships with key stakeholders and senior opinion leaders including local authority or similar.

The Harrison & Potter Trust is a wonderful example of charitable settlements made many years ago that continue to make a significant impact on people’s lives today.

It was established in 1970 when two old almshouse charities, the John Harrison’s Hospital founded in April 1653 and the Mary Potter’s Hospital founded in April 1728, merged to form the Harrison and Potter Trust. In 1972 a third charity, the Josiah Jenkinson’s Pension Charity founded in May 1905, was taken under the wing of the Trust and subsequently fully amalgamated.

Background to the roles  

The Board of the Harrison and Potter Trust currently comprises nine Trustees including the Chair, although the two people who are currently responsible for the grant-giving will be leaving within the next six months.

Main Responsibilities

  • To lead collectively and ensure that the vision and purpose of the Charity are achieved
  • To ensure that the Charity complies with legal and regulatory requirements and acts in accordance with the terms of its constitution
  • To act in the best interests of the Charity at all times and to the benefit of present and future beneficiaries of the Charity
  • To protect and preserve the ethos of the Charity
  • To ensure the solvent and efficient running of the Charity through the monitoring and control of its finance and administrative systems and investment policy.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working in Adult Social Care, or grant-giving, or have a background in law
  • Experience of organisational management
  • An understanding of the importance of effective governance of voluntary sector organisations, including the respective roles and responsibilities of the Chair, the Board and the member of staff.

Lymphoma Action is the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer. They've been providing trusted information and support for over 35 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma.

About the role

After five years of dedicated service, their current Treasurer, Keith McLeod, has decided to step down. They are therefore seeking a finance specialist to join their Board to continue the oversight of both financial affairs and risk management. You may be in a senior management role at another charity, or you may be in the commercial sector with an interest in getting involved with a charity.

Whatever your background, they're looking for someone skilled at translating complex financial matters into everyday language to enable the Board to engage with the issues in an educated and informed way. Chair of Trustees Age UK Richmond

Age UK Richmond upon Thames , dedicated to improving the lives of older people in their community, delivers a wide range of services, which include a mixture of ‘on-demand’ services, commissioned services and social and community activities.  They also work extensively in partnership with a wide range of other local charities in the Richmond area.   We receive excellent feedback on our services and are delighted to be able to support around 4,000 local older people every year.

Communications Manager, BAUS (British Association of Urological Surgeons)

THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF UROLOGICAL SURGEONS LIMITED BAUS is a registered charity and a professional membership association dedicated to ensuring the highest standards in the practice of urology for the benefit of patients. They support our circa 2000 members, ranging from medical students to consultants & associated urological specialists by developing guidance for clinical practice, providing education and fostering research.

Urology is one of the most varied branches of surgery. It encompasses diseases of the kidneys, bladder and prostate, including incontinence, impotence, infertility, cancer and reconstruction of the genito-urinary tract. It caters to patients of both sexes and all ages, from children to elderly pensioners.

About the role

Their team currently consists of 10 dedicated staff members and is led by CEO, Anne Bishop. The Communications Manager will be the focal point for internal and external communications, ensuring that BAUS is professionally and consistently represented as a dynamic membership organisation both internally by members and externally when dealing with partners, suppliers, sponsors and allied organisations.

This is a new post and, as such, the Communications Manager should expect to take a hands-on, adaptable approach to developing this exciting role within the wider BAUS team.

They are looking for

  • Experience in managing the communications function in a small or medium sized organisation or in a senior communications role in a larger organisation
  • Experience in developing and delivering communications plans to drive both internal and external engagement
  • Experience in managing communication campaigns, ideally in healthcare, charity or membership organisations
  • Enthusiasm and a genuine interest in our mission and a desire to contribute to its success.
