1. Agriculture
The Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP) delivered by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is now open for 2023-2024 program year. Deadline: March 27, 2023.
Food Innovation Challenge – Cultivating a resilient food future: Developing the end-to-end Cellular Food capacity for Canadian global leadership. Expression of Interest closes on March 27, 2023.
AgriInnovate Program: funding up to 50% of total eligible costs, to a maximum of $10 million. Deadline: March 31, 2028.
Dairy Direct Payment Program: $468 million will be made available up to March 31, 2023.
Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Program funding for the Research and Innovation Stream is $50 million. Program ends March 31, 2028.
Agriculture Funding Consortium launches their 2023-24 call. Letters of Intent (LOI) is due on April 6, 2023.
2023 On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) is now open. Received up to maximum grant payment of $75,000.
FoodTech Next: CFIN funds 50% of total eligible project costs, or $250,000. Expression of Interest Opens: August 1, 2023.
Market Development Program for Turkey and Chicken: The program will provide over $44 million to the sector over the next 10 years.
Protein Industries Canada will be investing $30 million into these artificial intelligence projects, benefiting the plant-based and agrifood sector. Send your EOI today.
The African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program (ASFIPP) will provide up to $23.4 million over 2 years. Application is now open until November 23, 2023.
Water Program assists projects that enhances agricultural water management for continued growth and long-term success of the agriculture industry. Learn more.
2. Arts and Culture
Research and Creation component of Explore and Create: Up to $25 000 funding available. Deadline: April 5, 2023.
Creative Green Tools Pilot Program is extended until April 6, 2023.
Sector Innovation and Development component of Supporting Artistic Practice: access up to $50 000. Deadline: May 3, 2023.
Project Grant Program – Individuals and Collectives: Total funding available for this program is $2 million. Deadline: May 10, 2023.
CIP Project-Based grant: provides funding to new community-based programs, initiatives, events and publications. Next intake deadline. May 15, 2023.
Local Festivals – Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage: access up to $200,000 grant. Next cut-off: April 30 for festivals starting between January 1 and June 30 of the next calendar year.
The Cooperative Investment Fund supports destination development and destination promotion initiatives as well as evenue-based events and festivals. Intake 2: September 12 – October 14, 2023.
Digital Museums Canada: up to $250,000 grant available. Next Call for Proposals: Spring 2023.
The Events component of the Community Support, Multiculturalism, and Anti-Racism Initiatives Program provides funding to community-based events.
Culture and Status of Women grants: learn about funding opportunities for projects in areas of arts, culture, community, heritage, recreation, sport, and diversity and inclusion.
The Commemorate Canada program provides funding to initiatives that commemorate and celebrate historical figures, places, events and accomplishments of national significance.
Funding for National Service Organizations: Funding is up to 75% of eligible expenses for up to a maximum of $650,000 per fiscal year.
3. COVID
Short-Term Compensation Fund for Canadian Audiovisual Productions (STCF): budgeted at up to $150 million dollars. Last date to apply for pre-eligibility applications is March 24, 2023.
Indigenous Community Support Fund: request funding for needs-based support covering the period until March 31, 2023.
Venture Capital Catalyst Initiative (VCCI): Deadline for the second round of the inclusive growth stream: June 2, 2023.
New funding for ventilation improvement projects will build upon the existing $120 million to support ventilation improvement projects in public buildings.
Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program: COVID-19 Resilience stream: with over $3 billion available in existing funding.
The Tourism Relief Fund (TRF) is a $500-million national program to support the tourism sector in Canada.
The Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI) is a two-year, $200-million national fund to help major Canadian festivals survive and adapt to the pandemic.
The Jobs and Growth Fund provides funding to businesses and organizations to help create jobs and position local economies for long-term growth. Learn more.
The Digital Economy Program helps small businesses take their businesses online.
The Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) is a national program that will provide $250 million over three years to help the Canadian aerospace sector.
Recovery support for Canadian arts, culture and heritage organizations through Canada Arts and Culture Recovery Program.

4. Employment | Varies
The Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) program is now accepting funding applications for 2023–25!
Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) 2023-2024 funding is now available and accepting applications.
Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women (AIG-W) is a taxable grant worth $3,000 per level. Deadline: March 31, 2023.
TECHNATION’s Career Ready is now open for Summer 2023. Receive up to $7000.00 subsidy.
FIRST (First Industry Research Science Technology) Jobs is now open for application!
Canada-Alberta Job Grant: Individual employers will have a cap of $300,000 for the amount of grant funding they can receive per fiscal year.
ECO Canada’s Science Horizons Youth Internship: receive up to 80% wage coverage up to $25,000 of a candidate’s salary.
Apprenticeship Service Program: Receive up to $10,000 in funding when hiring a first-year apprentice in select Red Seal trades.
Work-integrated Learning Industry Voucher pilot program: Interested employers and students can reach out to participating industry associations until 2023.
The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) offers paid postgraduate internships for one-year appointments. Learn more.
ECO Canada’s Environmental Foreign Talent Development Program provides training and funding for new immigrants with up to $15,000 wage subsidy.
ICTC’s Youth Dividend program: receive support in the form of 100% wage subsidy up to a maximum of $22,540.
Science and Technology (S&T) Internship Program – Green Jobs: 2023-24 applications for employers and youth will open in Spring 2023. Stay tuned!
5. Environment/CleanTech
Remote Area Heating Allowance (RAHA) program: provides direct rebates up to 25%. The program is scheduled to expire March 31, 2023.
NGIF Industry Grants launched a $10MM Global Cleantech Challenge. Deadline 1: April 25, 2023; Deadline 2: November 1, 2023.
Energy Innovation Program – Carbon capture, utilization and storage RD&D Call – Storage & Transportation Focus Area: Deadline to submit EOI: April 17, 2023.
Expanded Technologies Pilot program: up to $1 million funding available. Expression of Interest will be accepted until May 1, 2023.
Alberta Land Trust Grant Program helps establish and administer new conservation easements. Applications for funding in 2024 will open spring 2023.
Alberta Methane Emissions Program: Alt-FEMP program has a total of $10M funding available. Apply now.
AMEP technology development trials funding is to expedite the commerciality of new technologies. grant is up to 100% of the cost.
Climate Resilience Capacity Building Program: funding up to $80,000 per project. Application is a first-come, first-served basis. Apply now!
Alberta Petrochemicals Incentive Program provides grants to companies to attract investment in new or expanded market-driven petrochemical facilities.
Clean Energy for Rural and Remote Communities Program. An additional $300 million is available until 2027.

Canada–Brazil (EMBRAPII) 2023 collaborative industrial research and development call for proposals. Canada Registration Deadline: April 4, 2023; EoI: April 11, 2023.
CanExport Innovation is accepting new applications for projects starting in fiscal year 2023-2024. Access up to $75,000 in funding.
CanExport SMEs is now accepting applications for fiscal year 2023-24 for projects starting April 1, 2023. Access up to $50,000 in funding.
Go global with Mitacs Entrepreneur International: receive a travel grant of up to $5,000 to explore international opportunities.
Alberta Export Expansion Program: provides reimbursement up to 75% on eligible costs. Application is ongoing.
CIIP Collaborative research and development projects: Up to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum of $600,000 for approved R&D Projects. Learn more.
Application is still open for the Export Readiness – Micro Voucher. Up to $20,000 grant available.
Join a Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) to explore opportunities to grow your business in 12 global tech hubs worldwide. Learn more.

Eurostars is the largest international funding program for SMEs seeking to collaborate on R&D projects that create innovative products, processes or services for commercialization.

Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care – Quality Improvement Projects: Apply for up to $2 million funding. Deadline: April 11, 2023.
Indigenous Housing Capital Program: funding is currently available to support construction projects.
Circuit Rider Training Program: provides training and mentoring services to operators of First Nations drinking water and wastewater systems. Learn more.
Rupertsland Institute’s Apprenticeship Service Program (ASP) supports employers and inspiring trades workers by creating apprenticeship opportunities. Learn more.

The Emergency management Assistance Program (EMAP) allows for the purchase of low-value equipment for emergency preparedness and mitigation projects. Apply here.
Indigenous Forestry Initiative (IFI) provides financial support to Indigenous-led economic development projects in Canada’s forest sector. Funding available: $1 million per year.
Community Opportunity Readiness: Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) provides funding up to $3 million for community economic infrastructure proposals. Learn more.

Housing Supply Challenge: Round 4 – Building for the Future: Selected solutions will share a pool of $38.5M. Deadline: April 13, 2023.

The City of Edmonton Community Investment Operating Grant (CIOG) program provides operating assistance to Edmonton’s non-profit organizations. Deadline: March 29, 2023.
Community Innitiatives Program (CIP) – Major Cultural and Sport Events grant: maximum funding available is $250,000. Deadline: April 1, 2023.
Housing Supply Challenge: Round 4 – Building for the Future: Selected solutions will share a pool of $38.5M. Deadline: April 13, 2023.
Community Facility Enhancement Program: access up to $1 million funding. Small Funding Stream: May 15, 2023; Large Funding Stream: June 15, 2023.
First responders’ mental health grants: up to $1.5 million available. Deadline: May 28, 2023.
Exhibition Circulation Fund component of the Museums Assistance Program (MAP): funds costs related activities to the hosting of travelling exhibitions. Application is ongoing.
National Cost-Sharing Program for Heritage Places: open to owners and eligible lessees of national historic sites, heritage lighthouses and railway stations. Next call to be announced later this year.
Regional Quantum Initiative (RQI) in the Prairie Provinces: funds to advance and commercialize quantum products and solutions for domestic and global markets.
The Other Initiatives Program (OIP) provides financial assistance for community-based projects that fall outside the scope of all other Community Grants funding streams. Apply now.

The College Fund supports projects that enhance Canadian colleges’ capacity to carry out applied research and technology development. Notices of Intent Deadline: April 7, 2023.
NSERC’s Alliance grants program: NRCan will provide support up to $100,000 per year, for up to four years. EoI deadline: April 11, 2023.
Collaborative Research and Training Experience program provides up to $150,000 in the first year and up to $300,000 for up to five subsequent years. Send your LoI until May 1, 2023.
Advancing Futures – Prospective students. Application is now accepted. Deadline to apply for fall 2023/24 funding is June 1, 2023.
Alberta Student Grants: provides assistance to students with a permanent disability or persistent or prolonged disability. Learn more.
Continuing Education Indigenous Entrance Awards: supports equitable and inclusive participation in lifelong learning opportunities for Indigenous Peoples. Up to $1,000 toward tuition fees.
Application is open to NSERC-National Science Foundation – Collaboration on quantum science and artificial intelligence. Click for more information.
Exceptional Opportunities Fund is designed to assist institutions and their partners in seizing such unique opportunities.
National Housing Strategy Longitudinal Outcomes Research Grant: a total of $4.8 million available in this program.
Imperial Research Grant: is made to full-time faculty members to support research work carried out by students under their direction. Learn more.

ISED is seeking innovations that can advance the creation of a new generation of atom-scale quantum circuits. Deadline: March 29, 2023.
Protein Industry is now accepting EoI for Technology Program with newly allotted funding of $150 million. Deadline: April 19, 2023.
Funding for Alberta startups: currently seeking qualified companies for the $23-million Accelerate Fund III. Application is ongoing. Not a grant but I get many questions about startups.
Protein Industries Canada is advancing agrifood through artificial intelligence program. Here is the program guide to learn more.
Financial support for technology innovation through NRC IRAP: access an increased funding threshold of up to $10 million for larger research and development projects.
The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is offering SMEs a grant of up to $15,000 to upgrade or adopt digital technologies. Application is still ongoing.
High-throughput and Secure Networks Challenge program: funding for projects is up to 2 years in duration with maximum funding of $100,000 CAD per year.
Alberta Digital Traction is a funding program of up to $50,000 to cover SMEs software developmnent.
Remote Area Heating Allowance (RAHA) program is still accepting application until March 31, 2023.
Connect to Innovate program committed $585 million to improve connectivity in over 975 rural and remote communities by 2023. Application is still ongoing.
Accelerate Fund: $23 million angel matching fund available for Alberta startups. Application is ongoing.
Accelerating innovations to commercialization: Qualified SMEs may be eligible for up to $150,000 in funding over a maximum one-year term.

14. Government Update
Alberta’s government is providing a funding boost of $15 million over three years to the Apprenticeship Learning Grants.
Alberta’s government is providing an additional $330 million to support the social sector with increased wages and operating funding.
The Ministry of Advanced Education is supporting Alberta’s growing aviation industry by investing more than $11 million over three years in Budget 2023.
Alberta’s Affordable Housing Partnership Program is providing $54 million to support 17 projects in nine communities across the province.
Budget 2023 continues the Alberta government’s support for first responders and emergency health-care workers dealing with post-traumatic stress.
Alberta is providing $10.7 million to Women Building Futures to support women looking to build a career in the skilled trades.
Alberta’s government is providing $10 million annually to The Summit, a new mental health centre for children and youth in Calgary.
The government is providing $25.6 million over the next three years for the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP).
Alberta’s government is partnering with the federal government to invest more than $1.4 million for a pilot project with the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association.
If passed, Budget 2023 would invest $92 million over three years to provide critical mental health supports for children and youth in partnerships with CASA Mental Health.
