Amazon Marketing Cloud for brands using Sponsored Ads only

For our final Nerd Lounge of the year, I’m diving into something I’m thrilled about for 2025: AMC is now accessible to brands selling on Amazon—even if they’re not using DSP. This change unlocks incredible opportunities. Brands that move quickly can gain a competitive edge, especially since access is free and includes all ad-attributed data. Making the most of AMC does come with challenges, as it requires asking the right questions and some technical expertise. After all, nothing worthwhile comes without effort!

Here are 2 reasons to jump on the AMC bandwagon:

1. Improved Attribution and Measurement

AMC provides Sponsored Ads insights previously unavailable through APIs or downloadable reports. You can now ask useful business questions of your data to uncover things previously unknowable. A few examples include:

  • Detailed path-to-conversion data
  • Time-to-conversion metrics
  • New-to-brand rates per keyword
  • What keywords are driving purchases for specific ASINs

The breadth of data and flexibility in AMC means you’re only limited by your technical skills and imagination. When these insights are passed to your ad team, they transform from theoretical to actionable.

2. Advanced Audience Targeting

AMC lets you create custom audiences for Sponsored Display, or apply bid modifications for Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands. Instead of relying on Amazon’s preset in-market or demographic audiences, you can design custom audiences based on your criteria.

For example, we’re testing a high-intent audience: shoppers who searched for your keywords and saw your ads or products but haven’t clicked yet.

For CPC-type campaigns, these custom audiences can also enhance bidding strategies. You can load in those same audiences and then apply bid multipliers, effectively prioritizing high-value shoppers, similar to how placement bid adjustments have worked for years.

We look at AMC as the missing piece in data-driven decision-making for Amazon Advertising. Stay tuned—we’ll be talking a lot more about AMC next year.

Amazon Latest Feed 📱

  • Amazon's new “Business Placements” feature is now rolling out in beta. While it showed higher ROAS and CVR, it has limited detailed reporting and lacks bid control. Approach cautiously if testing this feature. Clément Hynaux
  • Amazon's updated dashboard design is promising but still a work in progress. It’s currently hidden under a “Next Gen Selling” button at the bottom of the page. Mansour Norouzi
  • Due to high demand, Amazon has blocked delivery windows from December 15-31. Already scheduled shipments are safe, but new appointments must wait until January. Vanessa Hung

Big Reveals from Marketplace Pulse’s 2024 Report! 

It's that time of year again! One of our favorite annual reports from Marketplace Pulse is back. According to them, Amazon continues to dominate as the world's most visited ecommerce platform. However, in response to growing competition, particularly from Temu and Shein, Amazon has shifted strategies to remain competitive. This pivot was seen in the launch of 'Amazon Haul' in November, a direct counter to Temu's cost-effective model. By embracing affordability, Amazon diverged from its traditional convenience and fast shipping focus, signaling a strategic response to market trends.

The report also highlights Amazon’s disclosure that Chinese sellers now account for nearly 50% of its marketplace. Platforms such as TikTok Shop are reshaping consumer behavior, fueling the rise of low-priced, brandless markets that seem to resonate well with shoppers.

Irish Businesses are invited to register on Amazon.ie  

Amazon.ie, will be launching in 2025 and offer a localized shopping experience in Ireland. It will feature over 100 million products from Irish businesses. More than 1,000 Irish SMEs sell over 5.5 million products on Amazon and have generated €170 million in export sales in 2023. Alison Dunn, a Dublin native, has been appointed as the Country Manager and will be leading this initiative. We're excited to see another country come online and can't wait to see what advertising there looks like!
