Anatomy of power

Due to political mistakes made in her administration, such as the massive dismissal of the Petrobras board, when corruption charges began to appear within this state company, according to Deputy Eduardo Cunha, former President Dilma Rousseff faced problems in her campaign for re-election of the government in Brazil, and in May 2016, she was removed from her position for up to 180 days due to the initiation of an impeachment proceeding against her. She also had her presidential term definitively annulled in August 2016, although she did not lose the right to hold other public offices, reports Folha de São Paulo newspaper of April 2017, in an analysis of power and its derivations. One of the most significant speeches he has made about power and its consequences, born in the Canadian province of Ontario and a master's and doctoral degree from the University of California at Berkeley, John F. Kennedy's friend John Kenneth Galbraith reports from his perspective an anatomy of power, over economic, political, military and religious powers - the ability of an individual or group to achieve the submission of others to their purpose. In his literature, he refers to Adolf Berle who describes power as something that is not remote or esoteric and lists three means by which power is exercised: punishment, to which Hannah Arendt opposes the thesis that power is based on violence, that ends up generating more violence, never creating a real space of power; the compensation, where there is an action taken with a view to some benefit; and persuasion, whether through the call to belief or conditioned power - the most relevant implications of power today (Galbraith, 1986). The so-called Mercantilism or Commercial Capitalism is identified between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, where the sources of power were the possession of working capital and goods in which financial and commercial acumen were required to succeed, read here compensation. With the Industrial Revolution in the second half of the eighteenth century, the state acts against the protectionism of capitalism and business owners grant management to specialists. Karl Marx's socialism is the example of the application of conditioned power, where the masses view this way of life as positive.

The means by which power flows and takes place is mostly through an organization, formal or informal, and the organization itself is the power. Such power in a corporate sphere exists through the enterprise, a productive economic organization of goods or services that rests on the freedom of a constitutionally guaranteed firm that the entrepreneur puts into practice the directive and disciplinary power (LIMA FILHO, 2013). The globalized world today imposes a context of economic competition and mechanization and process technology of corporations with high bargaining power, where in a crisis of structural employment, the employee may find himself obliged to enter this game, striving to keep his job, which he believes is a privilege in exchange for the silence on Working conditions and the destabilizing effects of new management practices (FREITAS, 2002 apud SOLIO, 2008). Although it is not something formalized, it is in the Imaginary of people the idea that without the company they have no competence for any kind of self-realization. We try to guarantee work and assure incessantly for better professional positions within a division of labor that shows a form of social stratification that identifies asymmetric relations of power stemming from the majority working for the interest of the minority, a rule of Paretto. Organizations are often used as instruments of domination that maximize the selfish interests of an elite at the expense of the interests of others. In addition, there is almost always an element of domination in all organizations (MORGAN, 1996); Throughout history organizations have been associated with processes of social domination in which individuals or groups find ways of imposing their will on others.

The sum of physical, intellectual, ethical, moral, or other attributes capable of distinguishing what holds the power from those who submit to it, called personality, divides behavior and creates leadership, generating leaders, whether spiritual, political, academic, corporate , family, etc. On the other hand, the historical source of power is patrimony, possessions and material goods, whether in the form of land ownership and the dominant relations of the elites over productive labor, or in the form of the means of production, establishing the relations between capital and wage labor. The most powerful source of power, however, is a gathering of individuals who theoretically share the same interests and values, is the organization, in the form of Church, State, Company, School, Political Party, and others, including the cell matter, the family, since no collective category, group or class, can achieve power alone (LIMA FILHO and TROMPIERI FILHO, 2012). Personality, patrimony, and organization are not mutually exclusive sources of power. People and groups can rely on any or all of them to connect with the energy of power. The school as an institution enjoys each one separately and jointly. Education is therefore emphasized, since it is acquired as a rule, through organizations, in addition to providing intellectual growth to those who seek it, endowing it with skills and knowledge through its attitude of increased awareness and growth, whether in the personal or professional field.

Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education. Franklin D. Roosevelt

Capacity building for the exercise of citizenship, however, is a provision that finds contradictory signs in the discourse and practice of the current power relations, which, given the prevalence of the market, weakens labor relations, deepens inequalities, stretch further the social tissue. But the process of active dissemination of knowledge itself may be part of a strategy of maintaining power, knowledge that is denied or knowledge that is distorted. The information age has also altered relations between nations. Whether through the payment of use licenses, royalties, leasing or simple access, the acquisition and distribution of the information have implications from the point of view of power (SILVEIRA, 2000). Full empowerment goes through education and it is stuck in the past, we need to look to the future and keep up with the constant changes - the shock of the future can be avoided, so we will not be put apart from the process, but we must learn to learn, giving priority to our values as they are crucial. One way is to decree the death of technocracy and humanize people for the resurgence of democracy (TOFLER, 1970). The future can bring us incredible discoveries in the midst of conflicts and what it may stifle, but for whatever direction one takes, any personal or professional opportunity, social or economic, inexorably passes through the revaluation of the human being, in a non-hypocritical way, but Conscious and integral. The power to decide what we want and the path we take is inalienable. The legacy carries responsibilities and they lead to the inheritance that we will have or will leave.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. John F. Kennedy
