Apprentice Administrator, Caitlyn Chandler discusses her experience with Morson Training | National Apprenticeship Week

As a part of National Apprentice Week, we spoke with Morson Training’s Apprentice Administrator Caitlyn Chandler about her journey to her apprenticeship and how she is looking to build upon her experience going forwards in her career:

Tell us about your role at Morson Training and what a regular day looks like?

"As an apprentice administrator in Morson Training I complete clerical and administrative tasks in the office, which includes responding to emails and answering phone calls. I also save records for training courses, such as signed booking forms and course packs, and chase clients for outstanding tasks. I ensure that every course has the necessary things for a course to be compliant and go ahead as smoothly as possible. I also have “off the job” hours with my apprenticeship where 25% of my working time is to be spent learning more about Business Administration and internal and external factors that impact how a business is run. "

How did you get your apprenticeship?

"I got my apprenticeship on the government website through Salford City College."

Why was an apprenticeship something you were looking for at the time and why was Morson Training the choice you made?

"Prior to working at Morson Training, I worked part-time and did not have the necessary qualifications or confidence to go into an administrative role and Morson Training made me feel like I would have the tools and support to develop my skills and get to where I want to be."

What are the benefits of doing an apprenticeship and what advice would you give someone thinking about doing an apprenticeship?

"The benefits of doing an apprenticeship is that you delve more into the business and you are taught to look at things from a different perspective. If I went into my job role without doing an apprenticeship I would not have gained the additional knowledge about factors that can impact how a business is ran, such as politics, environmental and social factors. It has also helped me gain more confidence by setting me up with tasks that force me to take lead."

What are your aspirations going forward?

I would like to keep climbing the ladder and soon be in a managerial position where I hold more responsibility and accountability and I can get more involved in procedures within the business, helping it grow.
Morson Group is proud to be a member of the 5% Club Charter for Apprentices. The charter is an industry-led initiative focused on promoting the recruitment of apprentices in the workplace.
