Around the Bases 12/12

Welcome back! I hope the holiday season is treating you all well. We had a nice jump in the community in the last week, and it looks like the magic number of 1500 teammates here might be reached by the new year. Thanks as always for your time here and spreading the word about the newsletter. When I count up the things I'm thankful for, your support is near the top of the list.

Time off is important, whenever you can take it. I've been in need of a reset for a long time, and I'm glad to see some time off is coming my way very soon. I have worked with too many who have put aside time for themselves for the greater good. Noble yes, but the lesson here is it is OK to put yourself first. Few places will throw flowers at you for grinding away at the expense of taking some time for yourself to refocus on you and what you want. In case you haven't heard, "the grind is real" for so many of us in this business as the sports calendar turns yet again (less college football, but way more college basketball). Getting off the grind has helped me so much during my time and making it a priority for yourself will make a huge difference for you as well.

Staying in that lane, this week's Something to Watch seemed appropriate. Bec Heinrich gave this speech a while back that still registers, GREAT stuff here.

Redefining Rest

This week's Something to Read offers a lot for anyone looking for some creative ways to get things done. Duncan Wardle ran a few meetings at a place known for thinking differently, and this book may shine some new lights on the ways you do things.

The Imagination Emporium: Creative Recipies for Innovation

An easy one for this week's Something to Listen To. You probably are going to get something out of Mel Robbins , and she is a guest here on Oprah's podcast, so yes, very very good here.

There is a game show that has been on forever called "The Price is Right", and one of their mini-games is called "The Race Game", where there are 4 prizes on stage with price tags next to them. The contestant has to arrange the prices on each, run back to a lever, pull the lever to see how many they get right until they get them all right or the clock runs out. A frenetic, fun watch. At times I feel like that contestant, constantly pulling levers to see if I have my life in order as I go trough my routine. Not the best feeling, and I know from experience that it can get crazier this time of year for those looking for their "next thing". If you find yourself here and are in need of someone to coach you through your "Race Game", we should talk. Getting your house in order as the calendar turns can be a lot. Resumes to retool, content reels to produce, and contacts to make can all stack up on you. I can be an ally who can help in all of those areas, as well as seasoned coaching advice that can help you straighten out your path. Please check out my website below and see how we can help each other. The consultation call is free, just email me at tom@stormers15media.com to find out more.

That's a wrap for this week. Before departing, a quick shout out to our teammates who are starting something new this week (you know who you are!). Take some time for yourself when you can and see how it feels to put you in front of the million things you have on your plate- you won't be sorry. See you next week!
