August 2024: Black Friday, Webinar, Walmart, eCommerce Guides
Welcome to our August newsletter. We hope you’ve found time to get away and destress before things kick off in Q4. Speaking of which, you should be well into your planning for Black Friday by now. We see two schools of thought when it comes to Black Friday:
1) Maximise the sales opportunity by promoting across your sales channels, using all means necessary to drive traffic and awareness.
2) Maximise profit by not promoting at a time when traffic is high, and you will sell anyway.
Both are valid strategies, but consider running some of your products on the opposite strategy as an experiment to guide you in future years. It may surprise you that businesses that don’t promote over this period can still see sales uplifts of two or three times compared to normal trading.

Our LinkedIn event will now be held at the revised time of 28th August at 5 p.m. This webinar will discuss the biggest growth opportunities for ecommerce businesses in 2024. We hope to see lots of you there – it’s not too late to sign up.
Channel of the month: Walmart
Walmart is the biggest physical retailer in the world and has a popular eCommerce site that is also open to third-party sellers. If your products perform well on Amazon.com, you should consider launching on Walmart marketplace, which operates a similar catalogue-based model.
Fees are around 15%, and orders can be shipped from the UK or fulfilled domestically using Walmart's Fulfillment services (WFS). Although it’s not as big as Amazon, it can still drive significant incremental sales, and it has Walmart's might behind it.
