August Reflections & September Plans: From Family Time to Business Growth
Now that we’ve entered September and the start of the 'BER' months, it's hard to believe how quickly the year is flying by! With the final quarter approaching, it's the great time to reflect on the summer and plan for the busy months ahead.
This month's newsletter is a little delayed, as I spent the final full week of the school holidays enjoying quality time with family. This week, it has certainly been a whirlwind of activity between last-minute repurchasing bits of school uniform (thanks to my son’s sudden growth spurt, with the uniform shop at school telling me I wasn't the only parent having to do this!)before he went back on the 5th, onboarding a new client, holding discovery calls with two potential clients, as well as attending a business show at the University of Lincoln, so a fantastic way to dive back into work and exciting times ahead!
After a hectic period throughout August following my father-in-law’s hospital readmission, this time due to a stroke, it was a relief to take some time off once we knew he was on the mend. One highlight from our family time was our first visit to Sandringham, where we enjoyed a beautiful walk through the woodland trail. We capped off the walk with some well-earned cake, cookies, and cold drinks—a perfect way to unwind. Plus, I managed to snap a picture of the cookies before our son polished them off! Then it was off to the coast for a fish and chip tea.

August was quieter for in-person networking due to the school holidays, but I did attend two fantastic online networking events. I reconnected with the Dynamite Networking Group thanks to an invite from Rajiv Jadhav . It was great to make new connections and catch up with familiar faces from my previous visit. A special thank you to Dovid Feinberg for then inviting me to the Winning on Wednesday Networking event the following day, where I made even more valuable connections. Thank you Juan Vides for hosting and making me welcome to that event as well. Following both online events, I have already had productive meetings with four of my fellow attendees and am also looking forward to attending these events again in the next few weeks.
On the professional front, just before my annual leave, I managed operations for a client for a few days while they were overseas, This included handling enquiries and scheduling site visits with contractors, ensuring everything ran smoothly in their absence—always rewarding when clients return happy!
Looking ahead, September is shaping up to be a busy month. I have several follow-up Zoom calls with contacts from recent events and am excited to also be attending the The Local View Peterborough Business Expo on Thursday, 19th September at KingsGate Conference Centre I’m excited to meet exhibitors and visitors, and I’ll be assisting at the welcome desk—so be sure to say hello if you’re there!
