Building a Greener Future: A Guide for Reducing Tech Waste

The Waste Hierarchy

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are a hot topic in any business right now. So if you are considering what you can do to move your business forward you’ve come to the right place.

As a certified B Corp, IT Naturally is all about highlighting and celebrating sustainable practices that make a real difference. As part of B Corp month, we’re teaming up with our friends and partners at ICEX, a company aligned with the principles of the UN Global Compact to bring you valuable insights into sustainable IT management.

So in this collab for good – get ready for a deep dive into the world of IT asset disposal and why it matters more than you might think.

The Importance of Responsible IT Asset Disposal

Let’s start with the basics.

In a world where technology evolves faster than the latest fashion trends, what happens to all those old devices? This is where responsible IT asset disposal comes into play. It’s not just about getting rid of old tech; it’s about doing it in a way that’s kind to our planet and valuable to others.

The UK is set to become the world’s biggest contributor to e-waste as early as this year according to a report by Resource.co. This underscores the critical need for sustainable practices in managing and disposing of IT assets. With an ever-increasing volume of electronic waste, the responsibility to dispose of technology assets in an environmentally friendly and secure manner becomes more crucial than ever.

We celebrated Nkandu M., our incredible Office Manager

From juggling recruitment and health & safety to being the go-to person for support and chats about mental health, Nkandu does it all with warmth and dedication.

We’re saying a huge thank you for the countless ways she makes IT Naturally not just a workplace, but a community.

Find out more about Nkandu

The IT Naturally team celebrated International Women's Day

Nkandu Muma,

How curious are you about our differences as human beings?

Our Technical Sales Manager Jo Sanderson has been pondering how she can be more curious after an International Women's Day event by the The Jockey Club at Huntingdon Racecourse.

Jo, Jessica Blight, Dominika Krol and Nkandu Muma enjoyed listening to the speakers, including:

Katie Allen shared her wisdom about being less scared to talk about our differences and the importance of asking questions instead of making assumptions about others.

Sarah Stones shared insights on how to work with what life has given you, and about being brave enough to ask for help.

Ross Renton spoke about building a new university Anglia Ruskin University with diversity at its heart and making it easier for people in the area to access education.

The team had a wonderful networking lunch (the food was brill!) and met successful women from around Cambridgeshire.

And we had our new photos taken!

Jo took our new team photos

Do you like having your photo taken?

Our team are certainly behind-the-scenes types but are now accepting that we want them to be in our marketing!

As a B Corp and a people-first business, we want to show you the real people behind the business.

The lovely Jo Campbell came to the office for our 2nd photo shoot and despite being camera shy the team did a great job!

The results will be seen on our website soon.

Coming next month...

Next month we'll be talking about giving your IT systems and tech a good spring clean. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss it!

Happy Easter, everyone.
