Barreling Down To The Paschal Triduum

In spite of it being chilly outdoors, at least the wind went down and the sun was shining most of the day. I'm hoping tonight's low temps will be winter's last hurrah. There've been a whole heck of a lot of Spring flowers burned by it, but hopefully they'll send up new shoots.

One of my early morning calls was to a colleague to simply thank him for the extra time he offered-up regarding a multi-faceted problem which is now heading in the direction of being resolved. Yes, it's always a comfort knowing there are still people out there who care enough to step out of their self-centered boxes, because I'm sure you all know about those who start running in an opposite direction whenever they're asked for a little extra help. For whatever reason, I've considered myself 'cursed' with having more of such characters in my life than normal.

Most of my morning was taken up with paying bills and then stopping over to St. Paul Lutheran to get a few more clarifications and confirmations on the two Services I'll be play for them which will be Good Friday's and Easter Sunday's. Since we're barreling down on the Paschal Triduum, I thought it best to be fully prepared. Up until this afternoon, I'd been a little anxious over how well I'll do with my accompanying those two clarinetists, but after running thru them on my piano for the umpteenth time, my confidence has finally been lifted.

Upon return from lunch, I busied myself with getting a stack of documents filled-out and then delivered to an office, and while there, I happened to cross paths with a gentleman whom I'd not seen in quite some time, and for whatever reason, he mentioned something about getting his home readied for sale, along with saying he'll be giving me a call to go look at it. Knowing where he lives, there's no question it'll be a 'slam-dunk' of a sale, and only because homes like his, are selling at a premium right now.

Without paying much attention, I found my afternoon had gone by in a whoosh, and likely due to the number of drop-ins and phone calls I was getting, and for whatever reason, those darned 'bot' calls were coming in with a vengeance again. I don't even bother engaging in conversation once I hear that little 'blip' on the line before the caller speaks. I'm hoping this isn't the beginning of what we'll have in store for us until the general elections are over.

I'm still in a bit of shock over that bridge in Baltimore being struck by that cargo ship. According to the experts, that bridge will take years to rebuild. Can you imagine how much of a disruption it's destruction has caused for Baltimore's port, not to mention the prolonged detouring of vehicle traffic? I can't believe that crazy Marjorie Taylor Green is now questioning whether it was an act of terrorism. That maniac definitely needs a muzzle.

Not too long ago I ended up getting into a heated argument/debate with a friend of mine regarding this blessing/curse I have whenever I get really bad feelings about a person, place or future happening, and in spite of my being truly sincere, I was left with a distinct impression my words had fallen on deaf ears, which left me believing most everyone thinks it's just a way of my getting out of doing something and/or having my way. At the time, I didn't even bother to bring up a few examples of myself and others having dodged some pretty bad situations, and all due to those wrenching gut feels I had at the time. Oh well, it is what it is and life goes on.

Now that I happen to be on the subject of 'feelings', have you ever been creeped-out after making contact with any given individuals? Well, there are a handful of people living right here in River City who'd creeped me out after making eye contact with them, and most of the time, it triggers some sort of sensory within me where I'm near dead certain what's coming out of their mouths, doesn't match what's likely really dark thoughts going on behind their eyes. There's one particular gentleman whom I cross paths with on occasion, who for whatever reason, doesn't look directly at me, but rather exhibits a weird sort of stare, and when speaking, it appears as though he's reading some sort of rehearsed internal playbook. I'm sure to this day, he's wondering why I don't spend any more time in his presence than absolutely necessary.

Since we're now talking about eyes, have you noticed some who bat their eyes far more than normal whenever they're speaking? Yes, we have those here as well, and perhaps someday if I feel wicked enough whenever in the presence of one, I'll likely say, “It's been suggested by researchers that the more you blink while speaking, the less you think.” Now wouldn't that get everyone running for an exit?

One of my colleagues listed a home today which I'll be showing to one of my buyers tomorrow morning, and by the looks of it, it may fit the bill. When reading online the homes listed as being under contract, I'll wager over half of them are over-sold. I'm not even going to 'go there' after seeing what these high-end properties are bringing. My gosh! Don't they realize their real estate taxes are going to spike, along with insurance rates and the cost of basic upkeep? Like a very intelligent man said a few days ago, “Most are living only for today.”, which I'm coming to fully believe.

Tonight's One-liner is: A rich person is only a poor soul with money.
