How to be Positive

I think this is something, many people strive to understand and learn, including me. Over the period of time through my own experience of handling difficult situations in life/workplace and also listening to some of the great leaders, I have developed a few ways to deal with negativity.

1)     Positive Self Talk

I believe, the biggest contributor to your positivity is the quality of self-talk you have.

You can do it, It’s all right, it will lead to a great output, everything is going to be okay, you are the best....so on and so forth. I believe, we need to continue to speak these lines to ourself. This will help us to develop self-confidence and lead to a positive outcome... It also helps us to handle the stressful situations easily....

2)     Know that it is just a Phase of life

Another way to be positive is know that this is just a phase of life and it will also go.Its a good idea to remember those difficult situations when you felt that there was no way, but you eventually came out of it...

3)     Be grateful

Rather than crying for what you don’t have, pray for it. And remember consciously what you have... It can be as basic as having a proper body, having parents around you, having a job in hand and list is countless. Only when you start counting it, you realize how fortunate you are. This will help us to handle our pain, as we start to look at things that others don't have

4)     Surround yourself with positive people

The next step is to surround yourself with positive people. Amongst our friends/colleagues, you would have someone who would always give you a balanced perspective and help you to understand and respond to a given situation better. No use of those who fuel your negativity and drag you more into uneasy feelings!!

5)     Have Faith

And the final one is to have faith. I believe, faith is to believe in something without knowing about it. When you have faith, you are able to Pray and offer your sufferings to something bigger.


6)     Remember your glorious past

Remembering those moments of extreme happiness and joy, when you won something, when you got selected in an interview, when you got the appreciation, when you became a Parent, will help us to bring positivity at a moment.

 

7)     Pursue a Hobby

I think, it's must to have a hobby. It is a great way to bring your attention to a place and calm down your mind and feel refreshed. Anything like, Gardening, Dancing, Painting or playing Cricket, taking a nature stroll or anything that you like would help us to be positive


8)     Practice Mindfulness

I think to bring in focus and calmness in mind, it is very helpful to practise certain breathing exercises, yoga or Pranayama, these ancient techniques provide innumerable benefits to the mind and

body.


9)     Be Fit

Being fit both mentally and physically is a great way to be positive. Even 2-30 minutes’ walk or going to Gym or Suryanamaskar or Cycling can help one to feel refreshed and positive. Also, it is good to follow a healthy diet. I believe, the kind of food you eat makes a lot of difference to your state of the mind.

 

10) Start and finish your day well

How we start our day and how we end it matters a lot. When you get up in the morning, doing something you love the most can help you to start your day on a positive path. Sitting in front of the Laptop or going through office mails can hamper the start. Instead, a few minutes’ walk in nature or listening to music followed by a positive self-affirmation can be a great deal.

Similarly, what you think when you touch your pillow is important. Its a great idea to surrender everything and expect great help from something we don’t know. That will help us to have a sound sleep and a positive mind.
