Best New LinkedIn Features of 2023

Best New LinkedIn Features of 2023

LinkedIn didn’t let us down in 2023. This was an interesting year for new LinkedIn features. I just reviewed my list for the year and selected my favorites. Mind you, this is a very subjective list

LinkedIn has been aggressive about introducing AI functionality, but I only selected one of those for my favorites list for 2023.

Here is my Top 5 new feature list for 2023:

1.    Premium CTA profile button option

2.    Celebrations

3.    Collaborative Articles

4.    Profile Verification

5.    Newsletter Visibility Enhancements

Let’s start with the Premium CTA profile buttons. This feature is available only to premium users and is subject to much confusion because there is a CTA link available for members with Creator mode activated.  Why do I like it? It’s a great new option for increased visibility.

Display a hyperlink to your targeted URL which will appear right under your name and headline preview of your posts and messages. Your button options include Visit my store; Visit my website; View my portfolio; View my blog; or Book an Appointment. You can use this button feature OR the custom URL from Creator Mode that allows for a customized name for the URL.

Both are positioned on the top introduction card. Only the premium feature provides that extra visibility of the link. The choice (link vs button) is yours if you have both premium and Creator mode. I ❤️ choices.

My next feature may surprise you. I love the Celebrations 🎉 section. I appreciate having one place to go to find connections with new jobs and birthdays. I make it a daily habit to check this section and send along a few friendly greetings. It’s all very positive and allows me a chance to show interest in my network. I receive nice notes or comments back, and sometimes those lead to conversations with people I haven’t spoken to in years. It also allows me the chance to send a friendly non-salesy ping to my prospect.

Collaborative Articles is a game changer. This is AI-generated content that LinkedIn members can contribute to for enhanced visibility. The benefits include:

✅ New and enhanced visibility for each of us as experts in unique categories

✅ Be found more easily across both LinkedIn and other search engines like Google.

✅ Find topics and ideas to spur your creative thinking which is related to your area of expertise.

✅ Be recognized as a Top Community Voice by LinkedIn because of your contributions.

✅ Repurpose your contributions into posts or articles.

✅ Find other creators or experts who share your interests.

✅ Practice your contributive writing, which is like commenting.

I was fortunate to be selected for the BETA group and join the LinkedIn product team for the launch and rollout. In September I created my first class about Collab Articles, which was exciting for the students. Here are some posts I have written about this feature this past year.

➡️ July post about Collab Articles Day in NYC

➡️. October post about my Collab Articles class

➡️ December post and video about the benefits and badges

Profile Verification doesn’t sound that exciting, but it’s a good security feature. Find it on the mobile app under “about this profile” at the top card.

I recommend activating this if you have access in your country now. Keep in mind that some other social media platforms charge for this option, while it is currently free here on LinkedIn. Look for continued rollout to more countries.

Bottom line, I want people to know that I am a real person.  And I want to be sure to be connecting with valid contacts.

Here is my post about this feature.

And now for the last of my top 5 features. It’s not just one feature, but several newsletter enhancements to cheer 🎉 in 2023. If you are not sure what a LinkedIn newsletter is …. well, you are reading one right now!

I love the overall benefits of producing a newsletter on LinkedIn. Here are a few of the 2023 upgrades we got from LinkedIn’s newsletter team:

✅ LinkedIn now displays your newsletter when someone searches for your name. Fantastic!

✅ SEO enhancements for articles and newsletters

✅ New subscribers will automatically follow the creator.

✅ Scheduling option.

✅ Create up to 5 distinct newsletters for personal and company.

✅ Additional metrics

✅ Ability to embed Instagram photos/posts and GIFs.

These are just a few of the many terrific new features for 2023. Which new feature is your favorite and why?

Thanks so much Sandra Long for drawing attention to five new features that LinkedIn introduced in 2023. As someone on the cusp of launching my LinkedIn newsletter, I was especially interested in the list of upgrades that the newsletter team brought out last year. Also, thanks for pointing out the Celebrations section where we can easily see who's got a new job, a work anniversary, or a birthday. I always get so much out of what you share in your newsletter. Thanks for being such a wonderful role model for me.
