The BEST Voice to Use During Your Presentations
Today, I’d like to break one of the biggest misconceptions about public speaking:
And it’s about using your great, big voice.
See, many people think it’s ideal to use that great, big voice all throughout the presentation.
Well… It’s not.
In fact, if you speak at a high volume and a high energy level the whole time…
It can be really hard for your audience to listen to your full presentation.
That said, let me share with you a brilliant piece of advice I picked up from watching TV.
The other night, my youngest daughter and I were watching reruns of The Voice.
And there was this young girl who had this huge, belter voice.
She had a rich, beautiful sound…
And she sure can sing very loud!
After her performance, one of the coaches talked to her about her huge, belter voice, saying:
That’s such a fantastic tool that you’ve got. It’s amazing.
But now, you need to learn when NOT to use it.
I thought this comment was really relevant for public speakers as well.
You might also have a really great, big voice.
But as I mentioned earlier, you don’t want to be using that for your entire presentation.
Otherwise, your audience will find it very hard to listen to you.
What you want to do instead is to decide the moments where you do use your big voice…
And then learn to utilise your medium and softer voice at different times.
Simply put, you’ve got to mix it up!

You want to have these peaks and troughs within your presentation.
Moments where you’d be giving your audience your high-energy, big voice…
Moments where you’d use a quieter voice…
Moments where you’d pause for a few seconds.
Not only will this make your presentation easier for your audience to listen to…
It will also help you deliver your content much more naturally…
And much more masterfully.
Now, if you need more actionable tips on how to mix up your different voices during your public speaking engagements…
Just send us a DM, an email, or a call and I’ll help you out.
