The Big 3 -

The Big 3 newsletter gives 3 clear, simple, and powerful ideas every fortnight. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to read but will give you more than a week's worth of insight. For those of you utilising LinkedIn, I want this to be the most valuable email in your inbox.

So here goes - 1 big piece of advice for LinkedIn, 1 question to help you level up your business and 1 idea from a business icon.

BIG ADVICE

How can I fix my profile today?

Preparing a high-quality profile takes time. It should reflect you and your business in a way that communicates the benefits you offer to anyone who might need your services, as well as being genuinely engaging. Having said that, whilst creating a great profile does take time, you can upgrade an unloved profile in five simple steps:

☑️ Update your profile photo

☑️ Write a unique headline

Your LinkedIn headline should not be your job title! Instead, in the permitted 220 characters, show whom you help and how you help them while naturally including keywords and phrases about your area of specialisation. - start with the result and not how you get there! See mine for an example in action!

FYI the first 40 characters show when you comment on a post so they are key

☑️ Update your skills section (up to 50) and ask for endorsements for colleagues and clients  - recruiters use them, and LinkedIn ranks you by them (indexes you).

☑️ Write a captivating summary /About section  - who, why, how + your contact details (you can now use hyperlinks here so add in your call to action eg. book a discovery call with me : Discovery Call)

☑️ Post consistent, valuable content! Ok, that last one is an ongoing task but if you have been clear about who you are, start by choosing THREE pillars that punctuate that message and make sure your content reflects those pillars as often as possible.

BIG ADVICE

'How are you?'

Not a complex business question, is it? Despite this, it might be the most helpful question you learn to ask. Businesses are only as healthy as their people and whilst we may want to seek out complex business strategies and the latest communication tips and tricks, it’s a simple human connection that will get you the furthest. So, try something this week.

The next time you’re compelled to pitch your business to a new connection, instead ask ‘How are you?’ The next time you are catching up with a teammate, instead of diving into the work chat, ask ‘How are you?’

The next time you’re planning a big email marketing drive, consider ditching your list of 10,000 for one week and pick 10 people to ask… How. Are. You?

Make it your business to be interested in others and you’ll find that you become more interesting in return.

BIG IDEA

“It’s not about money, it’s about the people you have and how you’re led.”

Steve Jobs
