Birmingham’s new ‘rock’ anthem is a real earworm

By David Sher

Several years ago a bolt of lightning struck me!

Birmingham needs a ‘rock’ anthem.

Something like Sweet Home Alabama, but for Birmingham.

But how to make that happen?

Then it hit me!

What about artificial intelligence?

I wrote the lyrics and AI created the music.

Amazingly, it’s pretty darn catchy!

If you like it, please forward to others…

We built this city We built this city on rock and coal, Birmingham, Birmingham

We built this city We built this city on rock and coal, Birmingham, Birmingham

Birmingham got a start with no rivers in sight Knee deep with iron ore, coal, and limestone its future was bright The railroads came calling—the steel mills were alive Birmingham known as the magic city—the area did thrive

Vulcan stands tall, shining through the sky—don’t you remember? We built this city, we built this city on rock and coal, Birmingham, Birmingham

We built this city, we built this city on rock and coal, Birmingham, Birmingham

The heart of the South, a foodie’s delight From Railroad Park to Rotary Trail, our future is bright

UAB in the center, a beacon for our town Technology and start-ups we’re all upward bound Regions Field roars, fans cheer as they unite—don’t you remember?

We built this city, we built this city on rock and coal Birmingham, Birmingham

We built this city, oh yea We built this city on rock and coal, Birmingham, Birmingham

We built, we built this city, yeah We built this city, we built this city, yea, we built this city on rock and coal.
