If there is book which must be read by everyone , this is the one which I will strongly recommend - AI Snake oil by Arvind Narayanan & Sayash Kapoor
This is brilliantly written , well researched and an easy read . Whether you are novice in the filed of AI or self proclaimed AI guru or somewhere in between , this book offers deep insights for everyone.
If you are curious about :
1. Present: What is going on in the world of AI? What is AI and what can AI do?
2. Future: What will happen in the next 10 – 20 years? Will our employment be affected by AI? How will our lives evolve?
3. Possibility: What is it that you should be aware of? What role can you play in this world of AI driven possibilities
This books aims to cuts through the hype, ambiguity and misinformation around AI since most people still cannot discern between the types of AI which delivers on their promise and the ones which are “Snake Oil”.
It distills some of the key issues around predictive AI and generative AI and how the flaws of AI could be covered under the hype of productivity, efficiency and clever marketing.
It doesn’t mean that AI isn’t useful, effective and can improve lives but it is important to determine what can or cannot be classified as AI, what can AI accomplish well, and what it will never be able to.
