Book Series: Coaching Agile Teams

Book Series: Coaching Agile Teams

There goes my first entry, as I finish the uplifting end of the book and hurry here to start this new idea. My Book Series.

How I Found it

I'm a regular listener of the Scrum Master ToolKit Podcast, it acts as my regular morning food for thought for the day ahead. There is always a question from Vasco Duarte to the guest for the week, about which is the book that has most influenced them on their career, and this one comes up often.

I have been following Lyssa Adkins work, it's hard not to in the agile arena.

What it Tells me

At so many levels this book speaks my mind, from the difficulty to let go control yet the importance to foster a growth mindset.

How we all come from different avenues, not only into the agile coaching but to each individual team member, and the importance of diversity in everything we do. Build upon each others ideas is where collective genius flourish.

An Agile Coach wears many hats, has many styles and influences beyond the team and its dynamics. Awareness is where it all starts, awareness of response modes, daily practices, stay connected with what you care about, awareness of brewing conflict and how to navigate when. It's also is full of powerful questions and preparation for every team gathering.

I can relate to all the failure modes, as to the recovery and success of an agile coach. Ultimately life is a journey to perfection, it isn't a destination as such.

It's really nicely written with a brilliant structure, it also has a cadence flow yet throughout it refers to itself in some of the concepts. I foresee this being a handy playbook to look back on again and again.

Food for Thought

It all starts with oneself, every idea of improvement, do not dictate, first start with you, self-experiment, then monitor and validate results.
