Books : The Silent Friends of Humans
In school days I used to limit myself to the curriculum books only to read which was required for the exams and stuff.
I still remember how I had to chose one book from the school library in 10th class and I picked up a book titled “અસહ્ય” (meaning: Unbearable) just because it was mandatory! Along with that I’m also able to recall one of the most asked essays in exams called “પુસ્તકોની મિત્રતા” (meaning: Friendship of Books) which I used to nail as I used to have (And still have) good memory! 😅
What I didn’t do is to understand that the words in the essay were not just for the sack of reading or writing BUT, those words are true in life that books are the best friends of humans. 🤦♂️
This habit continued in the college as well and I used to go to library to get few books issued on my library card and guess what... all were technical books only!!
Fast forward to 2021 (almost 7 years of graduation) and I purchased one of the Amazon’s best seller book-set and there has been no looking back! So far, I’ve read 8-9 books and there is new addition to the list this week. 🤓
I know it is not about how many books one read BUT how much information one is able to digest and implement in one’s life, is what matters and I’ll stick to that only.
Quality AND not only Quantity helps us excel.
Honestly, the books have helped me think beyond my thinking boundaries and have got to learn so much in this time and I look forward to continuing the same. 😁
The list which I mentioned earlier comprises of different genres: Self-Help/Growth, Communication, Finance & Spirituality and I will add more genres to the list in the future so as to not get limited to particular set of genres.
Now how did I start my book reading journey?
It was one of Sandeep Maheshwari’s video series where he picked up few good gems of books and shared few crucially helpful points from them.
The first book was: Think and Grow Rich as this book has helped him as well to pivot in his life.
While searching for this one, I came across the bestseller book set and finally purchased in Mar’21.
I even tried to write a sort of a book review for this in one of my personal blog posts here.
Currently there are mostly 2 persons on YouTube who have inspired me not just to start reading but continue to do the same. One as I already mentioned is Sandeep Maheshwari and the other one is Akshat Shrivastava.
Both talk a lot about Financial Freedom and how to utilize money for one’s betterment and suggest GEM of books from time to time.
Reading can help you learn fast as the book can contain the author’s life experiences and if used correctly can save us time of making the mistakes they made and recover or learn from them.

A classic example of this can be considered as “The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham and “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie where the authors have shared their own life experiences in the area of Stock investing and Effective communication respectively.
Now, we may need whole lifetime if we start from scratch everything and hence books are great treasure of knowledge which, if utilized correctly, can benefit us a lot!!!
I will continue to share what I learn from them on LinkedIn and Instagram. So, make sure you hit that follow/connect button.
