Always enjoy reading a book in my hand....

As the New York Times Tech Blogger Nick Benton says "There is nothing like reading the physical book, the paper, the ink, the glue- can conjure up memories of a summer day spent reading on a beach, a fall afternoon in a coffee shop, or an overstuffed chair by a fireplace as rain patters on a windowsill"

My love for books started as my Mom registered my name in a local public library when I was in Grade V at a small dark room at the corner of the road leading to my school there stood this place I used to visit daily on my returning from the school with my neighbours. But the boys of my age were more interested in playing cricket on the ground whereas I was very happy snugging in a corner table, my favourite one at the library and keep reading books till the Librarian uncle, an old retired man would come closer and tell me it is closing time at 7 pm, I used to be there all the days except Sunday as the Library was closed on Sundays, but uncle was kind enough to allow me to carry a book of my choice home on his own risk to read over the weekend and I would sincerely finished in a day and return to him on Monday.

Later when I started working and travelling to outstation in long distance trains, reading books was the most important part of my journeys. Lying atop my berth in Chennai Express, Udyan Express, Minar Express and Rajdhani Express I used to finish reading Fredrik Forsyth's famous 'A Day of the Jackal' or Mario Puzo's 'Godfather' or Ayn Rand's ' Fountainhead or Alistair Mcleans's 'Where Eagles Dare' or ' Guns of Navarone' (on which there were also famous movies were based), the likes of Harold Robbins, Sidney Sheldons to Agatha Christie's mystery novels I used to enjoy my long train journeys and it also continued in my hotel rooms once I finished the day's work I used to read till well past midnight since there were neither TVs at that time nor Mobile phones to keep us engaged reading was the main pass time and favourite hobby of mine.

Later I began reading more serious stuff like management books and enjoyed Dale Carnegie's "How to win friends and influence People" or Stephen R.Covey's " 7 habits of highly influential people" to Robin Sharma's " A Monk who sold the Ferrari" or The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C.Maxwell or "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu or "The Power of Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman or " Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki, I kept enjoying each of them for their deep insights on the management subjects.

Even now my idea of an ideal quiet holiday is to read a book of my choice at the beach side or poolside chair or on a garden bench sitting quietly sipping a juice or a coffee and munching peanuts or popcorn I love reading books. Lying on a sofa or swinging on a swing or even sitting on the terrace reading book is such a fun. Reading books in the company of nature is such a lovely thing to do in peace, without any disturbance of other people or just reading a book sitting underneath a tree is a blissful experience.

Nowadays we do get to read online e-books on kindle or amazon but reading a book on your mobile phone or on a laptop is not so satisfying as reading a hard bound copy or a paperback which you can rest on your chest as you fall asleep or even smelling the brand new book just as described by Nick Benton, the smell of dried ink, the glue and the yellowing paper is such a lovely experience while reading the book, books are your real friends give your company and without disturbing give you so much of peace of mind, knowledge and give you the entire world through the words........

A dear wise man I thoroughly read your article. I'm amazed to learn that reading books you nourished when you were only 5th-grade students. I enjoy reading a book in the calm and quiet nature under trees, Where light gentle breezes blow, the chirping of birds will occasionally hum. You read so many good books.
