Brave September; It's not luck

Hello,

I want to share a story with you all about my daughter, Erica, who recently returned from Camp America. Now, you might be thinking, “Oh, how lucky she was to get such an amazing experience!” But hold your horses, because luck had very little to do with it.

Let me take you back to one of her last calls home from camp. She said, “Mum, I feel so lucky.”  I had to set the record straight. I said, “Erica, you’re not lucky. YOU made this happen. You saw the opportunity, you applied, you worked your butt off to pay for it, and you had the balls to do it. This is NOT luck.”

The point is, when we chalk up our achievements to luck, we’re giving our power away! It’s like saying, "Oh, this magical thing happened to me," instead of, "I rolled up my sleeves, took a deep breath, and made this happen."

Think about that amazing woman you know who’s running her own business and thriving. Spoiler alert: She didn’t get there because the universe sprinkled lucky dust on her. Nope, she went after what she wanted, probably made a ton of mistakes along the way, but kept pushing forward.

Sure, sometimes life throws a little serendipity our way, but that’s just a nudge. The rest is you – taking that opportunity, facing the fear, and turning it into something incredible.

So, the next time you’re tempted to say, “I’m just lucky,” stop! Give yourself the credit you deserve. You worked for it, you earned it, and you’re owning it.

Here’s to all of us – going out there, grabbing life with both hands, and making our own luck!

If you’re reading this and feeling like opportunities aren’t falling out of the sky for you, don’t worry. They don’t fall – you hunt them down. And guess what? You’ve got the power to do just that!

Cheers to courage (and a little bit of butt-kicking determination),

Lee

Thanks for this Lee Walls 🔥 I have changed my thinking to be around gratitude for the wonderful things that arrive in my life. Ultimately though it is dedication, resilience and hard work that get you there. My biggest hero is my daughter who is dedicated to her music and seeks out very opportunity she can. At 13 she has taught me an awful lot.
