Breathe.

I ran across this saying from Warren Buffett the other day and it screamed at me. He said you will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back and observing things with logic. True power is restraint. If words control you that means everyone else can control you. Breathe and allow things to pass."

Sometimes silence is the best spoken word!

Over the past decade, the introduction of social media into the human dialogue has created a sense of craziness that I am not sure has ever existed. If it did exist, it was quietly lurking in the shadows and social media has now allowed the "crazy" to manifest itself into the light.

Not everything deserves a reaction. Breathe. Pause before speaking, tweeting, posting on Facebook, Snapchat, Instragram and whatever new platform is out there. Once the word is spoken, you cannot recapture it. It is forever in existence. Whether at work or in your personal life. Words damage. They are seared into the very mind and soul. Treat your words like you would cherish one of your most valuable possessions because your words can make or break your situation.

When you are frustrated, breathe. When you are happy, breathe. When you are sad, breathe. When you want to confront your boss, co-worker, friend or family member, breathe.

There is a time to confront but never in the height of emotion.

Dr. Clare Albright, a Clinical Psychologist and Professional Coach,  states to "wait a few days to cool down emotionally when a situation makes you feel wild with intense feelings, such as rage."

Techniques such as these will help you to breathe.
