Burn Brightly Not ...Out

Burn Brightly Not ...Out

Can the acronym "SHINE" help you wake up to a simple life equation?

Poor health = Struggling Business

Struggling Business = A Poorer You

A Poorer You = sad friends, family and colleagues :(

does that make sense?

So what's the solution to a 'sane' human being ...recklessly rushing into a health and business crisis? Because trust me - the pack of cards will all come tumbling down.

It's time to rise and shine:

"Think better, do better, feel better."

S.H.I.N.E.

S - Self-Care: Prioritize activities that rejuvenate you. Self-care is a non-negotiable. Stop burning the candle at both ends.

H - Healthy Boundaries: Set boundaries to protect and block-out your time and energy. Even 10 minutes of breathing space can make a difference. Learn to say 'no.' Recognize your limits.

I - Involve Support: Seek support when needed. Reach out to friends, specialist coaches, professional psychotherapists, online charities.

N - Nurture Stress Management: Develop healthy coping mechanisms to deal with low level business stress. We can't get away from it but... we can counteract it. Stop and take a breath (can you do 2 minutes?). Practice mindfulness. Do some deep breathing (use your body to calm the nervous system). Engage in creative activities.

E - Evaluate and Reflect: Regularly reflect on your goals and priorities. Ensure your actions align with what truly matters to you.

DON'T LOSE SIGHT OF ...YOU

(you're the only 'one' you've got)

In our relentless pursuit to become the best versions of ourselves, that is make money! ... We can find ourselves engulfed in a wildfire of ambition and activity.

However, this quest can become dangerous when we lose sight of what truly matters.... our life.

The signs of burnout are always there, lurking beneath the surface, waiting to be acknowledged. They manifest as: poor physical health, poor emotional control, poor mental thought patterns, and low spiritual energy.

These signs are not just random occurrences; they are warnings from our bodies and minds that something is going drastically wrong.

But we live in a society that constantly pushes us to trade time for money, skills, and knowledge. And while this exchange is a part of life, it becomes problematic when we push ourselves or allow others to push us, to the brink of exhaustion. (extinction).

Pushing people recklessly to their limits is not just irresponsible; it's criminal. BUT It's crucial to recognize that taking responsibility for our own well-being is equally important.

In fact I believe ignoring the signs of burnout and failing to take action is also a form of self-neglect (self-harm) that can have serious consequences.

I am passionate about what I do – "alleviating human suffering and helping individuals and organizations find their way back to their Happy Place." But it's important to remember that it takes two to tango. Both the individual and the organization need to work together to create an environment where well-being is prioritized.

REMEMBER...

The goal is not just to avoid burnout - but to thrive and flourish. By taking proactive steps to care for physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, we can ensure that our flame burns brightly.

Let's support each other and create a world where burnout is the exception, not the norm.

This post was inspired by an infographic created by Justin Mecham (thanks Justin)

Where he states: 7 out of 10 professionals suffer from burnout.

The infographic 8 PHASES OF EMPLOYEE BURNOUT ...really struck a chord with me. (because I've been there too).

Love the SHINE acronym as a self care guide. That infographic from Mr. Justin is a great emotional intelligence tool.

This is interesting and I agree we have to take responsibility for own self care. Especially if we take care of others, who deserve that we are at our best.
